How difficult is it to get to Trail's End if not staying at Ft. Wilderness?

My family wants to try Trails End this year. We're staying at CBR. How do we get to Trails End???

If you are going from a park (the easiest way to do it) then you hop on the bus (or boat from MK) to Fort Wilderness. Once there you will have to transfer to the internal bus system to get to Trail's End. I would say it would probably take about 45 min to an hour from a park. If you are coming directly from CBR and don't have a vehicle. Hope on the first park bus that comes (other than AK) and then when you arrive take the transportation to Fort Wildreness, followed by the internal bis. I would give myself at least 1.5 hours for that.

To avoid the internal bus entirely, take the bus from CBR to the Magic Kingdom, then the boat. The dock is only a few hundred yards from Trail's End.

Agreed, best way is boat from Magic Kingdom to Ft. Wilderness, dosn't take long at all. Just bring a jacket if you're eating at night as the wind on the lake can get a little chilly when coming to and from.

So, just to make sure... If we take the boat from MK to Ft. Wilderness, we don't need to use their internal bus? It's walkable from the dock to Trails End?

Correct, it will take you less thann 5 minutes to walk from the dock to Trails' End.

To go home, check with the CMs outside of the Hoop De Doo. After the 7:00 and 9:30 shows, they set up buses at the internal bus stop to take you directly back to your resort, rather than having to go to MK on the boat, or another park, or Downtown Disney. It's pretty convenient if you time it right.

Try to make your reservation an hour before or 1/2 hour after the Hoop De Doo starting times. Otherwise you'll be jammed up at the boat dock with everyone going over there for the show.

Also, if you have time, go back to the beach around 9:30 and watch the Water Electrical Parade, then hang around for the fireworks at 10:00. The music is piped in there and it's a nice view of the fireworks above the trees. A fun way to spend an evening.

Is the lunch buffet still mostly sandwich stuff or did they change it back?

Definitely. TE is located at FW's Settlement. The boat goes from MK to WL, then on to FW, and drops you off directly at the settlement.

All park busses go to FW's Outpost. You must disembark there, then take any bus marked "Settlement" to get to TE. Each of those busses are labelled with a color , such as "Settlement Orange". Each color takes a different path through FW, in order to access all the campsites. It's a 5 to 10 minute ride, depending on how many stops the bus makes to drop folks off at their campsite. To get back, you would take any bus labelled "Outpost", and the trip reverses.

The only busses from FW are to the parks, DTD, or WL. So, the quickest trip back to your resort would be ferry to MK, then bus to CBR. If you are coming from any park other than MK, take the "Wilderness Lodge/Fort Wilderness" bus to the Outpost, then transfer as above.

The MK boat to Fort Wilderness does not stop at WL, get the one directly to the fort. Unless this has changed in the last month or so. it USED to stop at WL but now, for awhile now, has its own direct route. I have heard the Fort boat dock is now where the grand floridian mk dock used to be. haven't seen this for myself yet though. I think that really stinks if it's true.

They changed it back. No ribs, but pulled pork (mostly harmless), fried chicken, kid's pizza and mac and cheese, salads, hot veggies, etc. No carving board or peel and eat shrimp like at supper.
