I currently have 4 EPCOT ADR's for my 7 night stay, and I will be using bus transportation from POP. I recently read somewhere that it takes about 30 minutes to walk from the front gate of EPCOT back to the WS restaurants!! Is this true? Wow, that's crazy! Can someone give me some feedback on this?

If you walk a little briskly, I would say it is only a 5 minute walk from the front gate to the entrance of World Showcase.

It's not difficult to get to them, but yes...it is a long walk. EPCOT is a very big, spread out park and the World Showcase is at the back. I would say it takes about 20 minutes minimum to get back there and check in.

Takes us about 15 - 20 minutes at a leisurely pace to get from the front entrance to France.

Even if the park is real busy it should only take you 10 to 15 minutes at the most. You don't need to panic about time. You'll be fine.

Last time we had a 10 minute wait in lines to get in through the gates at Epcot. It was later in the afternoon, and they only had 2 gates open. Then they tell you to check in 5 minutes early for an ADR. I would say that 20-30 minutes is plenty without pushing it.

If we are coming to the W.S. from another park, say MGM. We take the Beachclub bus to the resort and make the little walk entering the back side of the world showcase. That was non-crowded walking for us when we did it from Yachtclub.

Briskly? That's a dead run, LOL!

I would say that you can make it from the front gate to the American Adventure in about 15 minutes. I would allow 20 to be on the safe side.

It is probably a good 10-15 minute walk from the busses to San Angel Inn. So I would think add another 10 minutes to get to the back part of epcot. 25-30 minutes in all.

An average marathoner runs a "Nine Minute Mile." (Elite's run crazy speeds that make me dizzy to think about)

So if you are making it from the entrance of Epcot to the beginning of the WS (about 1/2 of a mile), in five minutes, you're doing it at a moderate run.

To the OP--plan on about twenty minutes from the front entrance to any WS restaurant at a moderate walking pace. Some might take as few as ten minutes, others will take the full twenty. If you are with kids, plan longer, if you are two active adults maybe a bit less.

Or, the average walking pace is 3 miles/hour. Half a mile from the gates of Epcot to the FRONT of WS is 10 minutes. The back of Epcot is another half mile (there is a big difference between eating in Mexico and eating in Japan from a timing standpoint).

kcrew, one of the things I think newbies have a hard time getting their head around is how BIG WDW is. The resort is the size of Manhatten. The parks are large - Epcot the largest (though don't try and get across Animal Kingdom quickly either). If you are dependant on a bus to get from Pop to the restaurant in Japan, you could board the bus, slip through the gates, jog over, and probably do the whole thing in 20 minutes. Or, you could just miss a bus, wait twenty minutes for the next one, spend ten minutes on the bus, get a long security line (hint, in a rush, don't have a bag - only carry what can fit in your pockets), need to pick up a stroller, be going with your mother in law who moves slow, and have the whole thing take an hour or longer. A car will make the time less variable, but by the time you park it, and get from the end of the parking lot in to Epcot, you may not have saved much time over the average bus ride.

You could always enter thru the International Gatewayand be right in WS but I believe you have to take a boat to get to this gate someone correct me if Im wrong. I think I can remember taking a boat from MGM to here..

You can walk to the International Gateway entrance from Boardwalk or Beach Club--it is about a 5 minute walk. You can also take the boat. It is much easier to get in thru this entrance at night as it is never crowded and you essentially walk right thru the bag check and entrance. It is very convenient to the WS restaurants. Of course, it only works from those resorts.

If you are going from another park or DTD, take a bus to Boardwalk and then either walk or hop the boat. Of course, it is great for the restaurants on that side of EPCOT. If you are eating in Mexico or Norway, it's not so much of a savings of time or feet!

Thanks everyone. budbeerlady and kcashner, thanks especially for the beach club tip--will definitely do that on the day we hop from AK over for dinner!
