How difficult are SoG ressies?

So I read that SoG ressie can be made only 7 months in advance and it's a very popular resort. I am just beside myself EXCITED we can stay there! I didn't think my hubby qualified but he does!:bounce: Guess I'll be giving up those value resort ressies. Shucks! :p I had no idea how nice it was there too! I'm kicking myself for not having stayed there before! But NOOOOWWWW we can come down more often and this is where I'm going to put up my ventran dad for his 40th wedding anniversary. How great!

So my ultimate question is how hard are the ressies to get? If I can right around the 7 month mark will I be okay? or is it like Cindy's castle breakfast and you have to set your alarm for the east coast opening of the phonebanks?

Any SoG FAQ threads? I'll do a search.

there are lots of SOG threads both here and over on the restaurant boards. SOG used to be very hard to book, but since their recent expansion no one really knows what the volume will level off at. I do know the suites used to go the quickest, but i think they also added quite a few more of those too.

I'm not sure where you heard that you can only reserve 7 months in advance, because I made reservations for June 2005 10 months in advance! And I had no problems getting 2 rooms for 9 nights/10days.:D I have a confirmation number and I have already been charged the 1st night rate, as a deposit. I do think it is a little bit easier to get reservations with the new expansion, but I don't know how much easier. Only time and reports on the DIS, will let us know.:D I would call SOG as soon as you can and make your reservations. Good Luck:teeth:

:Pinkbounc I called last week and was able to obtain ressies for 2 rooms for Oct. 29 - Nov. 2. When I checked the availability on their web site, it said they were booked. Decided to give them a call to check on a cancellation list and overflow reservations, and the lady said that they just had some rooms released. So don't rely on their online availability. You used to be able to book 52 weeks in advance, I'm guessing this is still the case. This will be our first time back since the new renovations have been completed....can't wait to see! :Pinkbounc

HI! : )
It was out of the Unofficial Guide book that said 7 months so that's good I can do it further! I wonder how far? I could call. ;) I just assumed it was right when I couldn't make ressies online for 14 months out like I tried.
Thanks for the tip, I'll have to call and find out for sure!

A lot depends on the time of year, both because of the increase in volume and also because SOG rates do not vary. So SOG is a fantastic value when the other Disney resorts are at their highest prices, but it is only marginally better during value seasons and when there are a lot of discounts at the regular resorts.
