How did you select your "holy grail"?

...and how long had you been pintrading before it came to you that "this was the one"?

I'm just curious because I don't think I have one...yet.

I don't think you really select your holy grail -- I think it selects you! One day you see a special pin and you just know that's one you really have to have, no matter how long it takes to get it.

I saw my holy grail pin on our first "pin trading" trip in February 2000 and didn't get it until about six months ago -- but it was worth the wait.

With me it slowly became an obsession. I first saw the pin on pinpics while doing that marathon of setting up my collection, traders and wants, and I included it because I thought it was fun and different. Then I kept asking just to see one at the 2 Contemporary meets I went to, but no one had one. I kept getting no responses to TA request I would send out for it. I checked e*** for it every day. The more elusive this pin was, the more I sought it out. Then it finally dawned on me... this pin is my Holy Grail!

I guess they kind of grow on you... like mold!

I have never had a real Holy Grail pin... But I have seen a few pins that just jumped out at me. And have had to get them.

I agree with Cherry and NHMickey my hg just picks me or they jump out at me. I have 4 hg i'm waiting to get. Owl Kanga Tweddledee and Tweddledum and the new pin that just came out at WDW dopey with gems. (I don't know if there is a limt on how many hg you can have) So now you know em if you got em and don't want em i'll give em a good home

Now as for hg I wanted and got it took me a couple of weeks to get them once I knew I wanted them. The ones I want now are talking a tad bit longer. But however long it takes for me to get them. Once I get them it will be worth all the waiting.

I don't care wich Tweddledee and Tweddledum. I just want them on the same pin not on the same pin it don't matter just as long as I have both of them.

I am with the crowd. I had the usual ones - Mickey for Pres - HM dangle but if you manage to get these what's left.

I think it is just one that for some reason says" HERE I AM!"

I have HGs that were not particularly limited but because it was a well put together good looking pin it was rare to fnd it for trade.

I have one I am always looking for but like Nat I am more just looking. I love old pins, cast pins and just odd ones.
