How did you pick your wedding colors?

I was originally going to use pink and green as my wedding colors. I even had the BM dresses picked out and everything. Then one night I had a dream that the colors were black and white with an accent of red. The next day I went to our new venue and I noticed that the carpet was red. So I just had to go with the colors from my dream. I guess that it is kind of a weird story, but I am so happy with how it turned out.

I always thought that I would have a pink and black themed wedding. Very elegant. We found a bridesmaid's dress in a totally different color and just went with it! Pics in my blog.

So we ended up with bold colors mostly. Everything was still very elegant.

My problem right now is that we are planning for a December wedding, and I think red, black and white are what we are leaning toward...but I LOVE bright and bold colors, and would love an accent of pink...and bright blue...but I can't get over it being all patriotic. oy vey. Any suggestions on a blue that might work?

I choose Little Mermaid as our theme (yeah, I'm a nerd, so what) so I choose Blue & green, Aqua to be exact and a light green. Also, because the Living Seas is Blue & green so it just fit. But then I feel in love with canary yellow so I'm doing Pool colored Bridesmaid's dresses with yellow flowers.

But I'm also adding pink because I want a pink bouquet and I loved the rose color Lurkyloo had for her rose petals at her Ceremony. We are going with that Color for an Accent too but just for Floral.

Blue & green for Stationary, Linens, etc.
Yellow & Pink for Floral

I hope it looks right!

I think another bride gave good advice. We just got our Bridesmaid's dresses this weekend. I absolutely LOVED the David's Bridal bright orange color with the Orange & White flower dress. If I haven't picked a theme already, I would have went with that orange line in a heartbeat! So basically you may want to wait to pick colors until you shop for bridesmaid's dresses since they dictate they colors for your wedding pretty much.

my goal for my wedding is romantic/vintage ala 1950s/ crazy fun party. LOL hopefully i'll be able to figure out exactly what colors that needs to be!

I tied our colors into our theme. I found out the Grand Floridian was modeled after turn-of-the-century beach resorts, so I went with a whole TOTC theme. I wrote Rose Dizon (floral coordinator) and she suggested the "victorian" colors of rose, sage green, ivory, etc., and I added the primary color of lavender, since it's my favorite. I think it tied together well and I loved the flowers.

If you get stuck, write your floral coordinator with some ideas. They've seen tons of great weddings, so they know what will really come together well.

My wedding colors are brown and orange.

I always wanted a fall wedding, and i had imagined fall flowers. Now that I am getting married in October in Disney world I am still doing orange but now I am using calla lilies (a more tropical flower)

I also decided on brown so my Bridesmaids could wear their dresses again, and my DF wanted to wear Khakis so it all kind of fell into place!
