How did you pay your deposit?

We just got our contract emailed to us today (YAY!!!) and are looking to get everything sent out Monday (we both work this weekend). I was curious...

How did y'all pay for your deposits?

It appears that the easiest ways are to do it by money order or CC. I don't want to put it on my CC, as I am trying to pay it off (yes, while paying for a Disney Wedding!). My contract says a bank check is an option, but I have no idea what that is!!

Any input would be helpful ;)

A bank check = a cashiers check or certified check. It's drawn directly in the funds available in your account, and therefore it's more secure than a personal check. Some banks limit the amount of money they'll provide a certified check for, but mine places no limit on cashiers checks, other the funds available in my account.

Ok so I can use a cashiers check? I'd much rather go through my credit union than someplace like a WalMart or 7-11 when having to put up that kind of money!!!

yes, we did a cashiers check from our credit union - i remember them ot spelling “Fairytale” quite right and fretting over it. i feel like they wouldn’t take my amex but maybe i’m not remembering that right....

so exciting!!:thumbsup2

Now I feel better! We're gonna get everything ready to go on Monday! It keeps getting more and more real!

Lisa... we need to actually meet.. since we work in the same building!

yes, no kidding! i often squint at people’s name tags in the cafeteria when i suspect they might be you (and probably freak them out totally)!

Haha! I see people do that all the time! What is funny is that I see people who know me and know my name and STILL look at my badge!

We put our whole wedding on our Disney credit card in order to get the points. We paid it off right after we put the charge on. The points pretty much paid for all of our expenses (food & shopping) during our honeymoon at Disney. Disney will work with you if you need to pay in installments because of you credit card limit. This would be the only reason why I would recommend a credit card. It would be free money.

I really want to avoid charging on my credit cards. I understand about the Disney card, but that's ok. I have a balance on it that I'd like to pay off. It's not too much, but things have happened recently and I've had to leave a bit of a balance. I've gathered a ton of Disney gift cards over birthdays and Christmases, so we should be pretty good on that.

As long as I can pay with a cashiers check, I'm good!!

This is a great idea !
(from a mom who might be paying for her daughter's wedding deposit very soon !)

This is what we're doing. Both sets of parents are giving us money for the wedding so I'm putting it on my CC and they are giving me the cash. I just paid the $49 to upgrade to the Premier card so we get 2% on everything Disney! :cool1:

We are also putting the money for the wedding on credit cards as well and paying it right off once its charged. We already got enough points to pay for our honeymoon flights from our Citi cards. Now I'm mostly using my Disney Visa to rack up some Disney money =)
