How did he propose?

I got engaged on the weekend so very happy to finally be able to share my story!

We are lucky enough to live very close to the Marger River region of Western Australia which is full of beautiful beaches (I'm obviously biased but I think we have some of the best beaches in the world), wineries and basically lots of awesome things to do. We go "down south" a few times a year and usually stay in the same nice (but basic) accommodation. This trip was just going to be like one of our regular trips, we were going to stay at the usual place, and just have a relaxing weekend.

When we got to our accommodation DBF asked me to stay in the car while he checked in so he could leave the engine on and the air conditioning running. When he came out he said our room wasn't ready yet so we would go for a drive first and come back later. He drove into this beautiful spa/retreat and said he just wanted to have a look around and pick up a brochure. Once again he asked me to stay in the car while he went into reception. When he came back he said that the receptionist gave him something; the key to our room!

The retreat was so beautiful! It is set in the outback so we were surrounded by Eucalypt trees and had our own little villa, which was very private. We had a hot tub and an outdoor rain water shower, and there was wine and a gourmet platter (cheese, pate etc.) waiting for us in the fridge. We got to see lots of wildlife, kangaroos, possums etc.

After we had checked in and used the outdoor shower (I loved this so much!) we drove to our favourite beach to watch the sun set, which is a tradition for us on the first night of our trip. It's quite a big beach, probably takes about 45 minutes to walk from one end to the other. So DF and I walked to the opposite end of the beach, which was deserted, and it was perfect timing for the sun to start setting. I started to get a bit suspicious because he started commenting on how the beach is a special place for us etc. and then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

Of course I said yes!

It was a very special moment for me and I'm very proud of DF. He knew that I'm quite shy and wouldn't have liked any kind of public proposal so it was perfect (although we said he was a bit worried when we first arrived because there were quite a lot of people out!) We have had my ring for quite a while and it is so lovely to finally be able to wear it.

I'll also start a PJ now that we're officially engaged!

Because it was just the two of us I don't have any engagement photos, but here are some of the beach and the sunset

I have no really romantic proposal story.
We had just met in person and neither of us knew it would be love at first sight, so we didn't have any sort of romantic plans or rings bought or anything. It wasn't even asked in a "will you marry me?" form.
We were out walking on the only warm day in November and we sat down and relaxed and then it was like... the realization just dawned on him and he turned towards me and said, "We're gonna get married, aren't we?" and I said, "Yeah, I think this is happening."
tada...

even getting the ring was casual, lol. i picked it out and he gave it to me in my sister's bedroom while we were folding laundry.

I finally have a chance to post my first posting on this site! I've been lurking for a couple years knowing that me and my then BF were gunning straight for Orlando for a DFTW once we were ready!

My BF and I had been together for 7.5 yrs now. I had to work Saturday morning at 5:30 am, so was exhausted when I got home. Instead of taking a nap, BF forced me out of bed, into my workout clothes and sneakers and shooed me out the door into the car. We took a nice drive through the Austin rolling hills and he parked at the bottom of Mount Bonnell. (Note: Mt. Bonnell = 100 billion gazillion stairs to the top peak to a beautiful lookout of Austin)

I complained all the way up the mountain, looked over the peak, turned around and he was kneeling with a ring box HEEEEEEEEE

And then I blacked out.

Cue dancing fruit

ohhh, I laughed:laughing: a little because this is something my fiance would never ever do as he's pooh sized and not into exercise and open air hikes! But I would have loved too!
Congrats!

Aw thanks so much! The view was so beautiful, but I think that may be the last time I huff it up those stairs for a while HAHA

Nick and I have been together a little over 6 years and he proposed to me this past Christmas. We have a "santa mouse" tradition and he hid the ring in the tree like "santa mouse" would do and when I found it he was on one knee in front of my whole family and asked me to marry him. I of course started to cry and shook my head yes. We get married October 29th of this year!

Ooh, engagement stories, my turn!

James and I were headed to Tulsa to see Wicked (the best show ever) with two of our friends who had never seen it. During intermission the two boys got up to smoke outside while us girls stayed in the theater. After the curtain call, the cast stepped back out to talk about a charity they were raising money for. If you donated 20 you got a poster of the show signed by that nights cast, for 75 you got a tour of the backstage area given by one of the cast members, and for 5 you got a reusable tote bag with Wicked printed on the side so you can all go green (cue laughter). Anyway, I decided that I just had to take the backstage tour so we said our goodbyes to our friends and made our way to the table where I whipped out my card to pay for the tour.

We started the tour and I showed off my knowledge of the play by answering the questions that our tour guide threw at us about the show. We saw all the amazing props and costumes used as well as the set pieces and learned tidbits of info about how the show worked. At one point another cast member came over and started talking about his role as the wizard so our tour guide took the chance to step back and finish changing out of his costume. At one point I realized James wasn't with me so I looked around, spotted him with the cast member, thought it was weird, shrugged, and turned back so I wouldn't miss anything at all about what the wizard was saying.

Our tour guide was about to escort us all out when he pulled James aside and told him that he wanted to show him something else. He got someone else to show the rest of the group out and I stayed back with James. The tour guide took us back out to center stage and excused himself to say goodbye to the rest of the group. James then said something about how he loved me then dropped to one knee and pulled out a ring before finishing his speech. I heard nothing of the rest of his little speech because I was crying so hard. I couldn't even say yes I was crying so hard.

Apparently when the cast member was changing James asked if there was any way we could get back onto the stage and then showed him the ring. I guess I looked right before he pulled out the ring or seconds after he put it away because I had no idea. Originally he planned to propose outside beside a fountain near the theater but because it was cold the fountain was off. Everything worked out really perfectly though. The thing that everyone focuses on was the fact that I paid for the tour but what could he say...no because I'm planning to propose so it will be more romantic if I pay for the tour? I wanted the tour so I payed for the tour.

Oh, and I forgot to mention. Our friends who went with us decided to donate 20 dollars to get a signed poster just so he could write it off come tax time. For Christmas, they decided to frame the poster and give it to me; it was a fantastic gift.

My fiance proposed to me in the Rose Garden at Disney's Magic Kingdom in front of Cinderella's castle. He hired the Disney photo and video people to trick me into thinking that they were doing promotional video interviews on couples this Valentine's Day. So I'm standing there with cameras and lights, hooked up to a microphone thinking do we really have to be bothered? lol We were asked how long we've been coming to Disney, what is our favorite park and why. Then they asked us to hold a prop and pose for a few photos to promote the Disney Florist and show the arrangements that can be made special for couples on Valentine's Day. The prop ended up being a flower pillow bed with Cinderella's glass slipper on top. I noticed an engagement ring inside the slipper sitting on rose petals. We took some photos holding it and my fiance says this is nice right? And before I knew it he was on one knee in front of me proposing! The entire thing was caught on video and photo. After all the emotions and crying, Disney said well we weren't doing interviews all day, we were hired here for YOU. It was truly an amazing experience. They then took us around the park to take photos and video footage at different spots so they could create an amazing video montage! Here is our video on youtube for your viewing pleasure :happytv: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uNsz1vUaOg

My husband proposed to be in Epcot during Illuminations... Both of our families were there, and he booked the VIP viewing section at England, along the wall....We had all grabbed champagne from Italy and walked over there to get our tables for the fireworks...little did I know there would be a proposal involved in front of all 12 of us! Then we ended up doing a Disney themed wedding back at home with a Disney/Mexico honeymoon.

First, a little background on my fiance. My DF is studying to become a pastor - the weekend that he proposed he had been at a lock-in for the youth group at church. I didn't expect to see him at all that weekend. It happened on Saturday, October 9, 2010

Jared called me on Saturday afternoon to ask me what I thought of him coming down to see me that night and we would go out to eat at a fancy restaurant. He told me that Pastor Saylor, his field pastor, gave him Sunday off - since he already wasn't doing anything for the service. So I was pretty excited to know that I was going to get to see Jared this weekend, but I was of course growing a little suspicious by this point because I thought it was strange that he would come down at the last minute like that and decide to go to a fancy restaurant.

Jared finally got to my house around 7:15pm and he changed into his clothes for the restaurant. We were sitting on my couch watching tv waiting for the time we were going to leave for the restaurant. Jared's cell phone starting to ring - once he answered the phone he stepped outside, which again I thought was strange, when he came back inside he told me some weird story and said that it was time to leave for the restaurant. So I got my dog in her crate and got my alarm set and when we got outside there was a stretch limo in my driveway!!! I was so shocked, I couldn't believe that he had gotten a limo at the last minute. All the way to the restaurant, he wouldn't tell me what restaurant we were going to. The limo finally pulled up in front of The Melting Pot on 86th street in Indianapolis. We were seated in a corner booth, there was a curtain that closed us off from the rest of the restaurant - it was very romantic.

He kept on reaching into his jacket pocket, he told me that it was because he wanted to make sure he had his wallet with him. I had never seen him do this before, but I didn't really think too much about it. Finally, after sitting at the table for about 20 minutes he reaches into his pocket again and pulls out his wallet and lays it on the table, then he reaches into his pocket again and gets his cell phone out - he lays it on the table so it's on the table just right. Then he reaches into his pocket again and gets his camera out, saying that he wants our waitress to take a picture of us. Then he reaches into his pocket again and pulls out a napkin - he tells me that he always keeps a napkin with him. :lmao: I ask him why he keeps a napkin with him, and he told me that you never know when you could run out of tissues. :rotfl2: Then he starts "fake" blowing his nose into the napkin and keeps doing this - I am looking at him like he's from another planet because he's acting so strange. Then all of a sudden something falls out of the napkin and he catches it and holds it up, and he asks "Will you marry me, Baby" I started to tear up and laugh at the same time - because of the fact that he was "fake" blowing his nose. I of course said yes, and we had a wonderful dinner. He told me later that he was so nervous about losing the ring that he wanted to propose right away so he wasn't nervous during the whole dinner and wasn't able to enjoy it.

Even though this wasn't the most romantic proposal the world has ever seen - I loved it so much. I always dreamed of having something memorable to tell people. Jared always gets this big grin on his face when I tell this story, because it's just so funny and I think he likes how much I love telling it.
My parents knew that he was going to propose so both of my parents were attached to their cell phones waiting for me to call or text. It was very adorable. I love my DF very much and love that he did something out of the ordinary to ask me to marry him :)

We had met March 2009 on the College Program and were best friends instantly. From day 1 of being friends I made it clear that when I get married I was going to get married at Disney World. Annnnyway...

I had moved from Minneapolis to Indianapolis to be with him and one weekend in December my sister had come down to visit. We thought it would be fun to take her to some of the first things we ever did down here in indy... mini golf, art museum, canal, etc etc etc... I knew he had the ring b/c we picked it out together and I was SURE that he was going to propose about 8 different times that day but for whatever reason things were closed, it didn't work out for one reason or another and I started getting pretty sad because I was so excited about it.

So we go back to our apartment where he makes my favorite dinner for all of us and we all ate by candle light. It was so pretty! He puts our song playing and asks me to dance, which was sweet but strange for him lol. He goes on and on and on about how much he loves me and can't believe our relationship is so amazing and drops down to one knee... I, of course, am balling at this point (in EXCITEMENT, naturally..!!!!) and don't remember a thing he said after that except i'm pretty sure he said "marry me" somewhere in there :rotfl:

I remember saying YES YES OMGOSH YES! and remember looking over at my sister and she's cryin' her little eyes out hah!

And of course, we have that Disney Wedding all set for November 5th, 2011 <3

The only glitch was... back when we were just friends *and he was a photopass CP at MK* He always said he would be the photographer for my wedding.... well obviously there's a tiny problem with that idea now haha. Thank goodness I became friends with a LOT of photopass photographers down there and they all had said the same thing :-)

Very cute stories everyone :goodvibes

Mine was a surprise Disney proposal in May 2010. We'd gone back for an evening reservation at Le Cellier in Epcot, as myself and DF had enjoyed a meal there in 2008 and wanted to let my parents and my brother enjoy it. Now, I hadn't been feeling well for the previous 3 days whilst there, so I was also quite sad by this, as Le Cellier was one I was certainly looking forward too.

We'd gotten to the park a little earlier to enjoy a couple of rides before hand and then headed up towards Canada. We were seated at Le Cellier over the far side of the restaurant, next to the toilets  My poor DF had it planned to ask me in the restaurant, but when seated decided it wasn't ideal  My parents and brother had been asked their permission, so knew it was all happening and I got the feeling none of them were relaxed much that evening, esp DF!

I didn't manage much supper, and neither did DF :lmao: I thought I'd passed on my bug to him, as he's not one to leave his food easily. Anyway, we left the restaurant and just caught the end of Illuminations as we departed. Epcot was at closing time at that point, so we joined the crowds heading up towards the exit when DF asked would I have a photo taken with him in front of the Mickey & Minnie topiary. (Again, un-usual, he doesn't do photos!). I accepted and we headed across to the entrance to WS. He put me where he wanted me to stand (my brother and Dad had gone to set up their cameras ;)) and then as I reached for him for the photo, he wasn't there. I turned and he was down on one knee asking me to marry him  I was too stunned for words and it was only the whistles and cheers from the crowd and someone shouting 'Say Yes!' that brought me back around to actually accept :rotfl2: I ended up in floods of tears of joy and excitement - and to top it all off, when DF asked if I felt better, I had to tell a little white lie and say I did, even though I still felt awful from being poorly!!

It was amazing, a moment I'll truly never forget and I'm so pleased I have pictures to remember it by, as I don't think I would if I didn't have them, I was that shocked  I hope you don't mind me sharing one or two of them...

What an exciting thread!

We got engaged in NEW YORK central Park July 28th 2010! How exciting!

I thought it was a normal trip to Orlando - Different airport though! (How wrong I was)

At first, checking in to Heathrow was an experience all on its own! Greg had organised everything! All I had to do was follow instructions. Until I clocked the JFK stickers on the bags! I asked Greg what they were for and he replied ‘Sometimes they change the codes’ I actually believed him! Sitting in the Lounge at Heathrow after passing all the clues! (and not noticing any of them!) We were tucking into breakfast rolls filming each other on our new camera! When the camera was rolling ... he told me we were going to New York!!!! and Happy Graduation!!!! :lovestruc Love him!

I was over the moon, first NYC then off to Florida with both of our families! :dance3:

On day one, we were up early because of the jet lag. Fed, dressed and ready to be tourists by about 7:30am! Greg was on a mission! We caught a yellow cab to Central Park...again armed with the new video camera! We took a leisurely walk; while we recorded everything we went passed; Strawberry Fields, The Zoo, then lastly the Lake and the Boat House. Where he took the little black box out of his pocket, placed it on his knee and looked at me! We both giggled and he asked me to marry him!

This was the happiest moment ever! I couldnt believe it! The whole holiday was amazing, and then our parents met us in Florida after NYC to enjoy the rest of our engagement celebrations!

As you can see the two of us have always had a love affair with Orlando! (since we were small) The weather, Our first holiday together, the parks, and of course Disney... etc etc the list is endless!!!!
