How crowded was it during 2013 24 hours day?

I have an opportunity to go to Disneyland/Calif. Adventure this weekend. I see there's a 24 hour day on Friday, 5/23. How crowded was it last year? I won't be able to go until 10 p.m. that night. Was it super crowded last year at that time? When did the crowds lighten up?

Also, I understand some rides might not be open. Any idea which ones might not be open during the middle of the night?

Should I just go another day that weekend instead?

Prior to 7pm. It wasn't too bad. The night before there were long lines just
To get the special leap year Mickey hat. After 7pm it got ugly. The line filled the entire esplanade. Security check lines went almost to harbor blvd.

The crowd no longer had a Disney feel. More like grad night. I didn't feel safe with our two little kids so we went back to the hotel. I remember the smell of pot walking back.

I heard inside the park was shoulder to shoulder insanely crowded. Even 1/2 hr wait just for a churro. Disney doesn't repeat it's mistakes too often. So hopefully it learned from its leap day mess.

Oh wait. I'm thinking of leap day. Did they have another 24 hr day since then?

In May 2013 I attended the 24 hour day arriving about 10PM and it was extremely crowded. After walking around both parks (DLR & DCA) the lines for any of the rides where just too long. I may have gotten in line for a few of my favorites but being an annual pass holder and living local I could always come back some other day to enjoy the rides. Therefore I spent the the next several hours just walking around checking things out before I decided to leave. I would definitely go to the upcoming 24 hour day but I will be out of town on a trip.

I did DCA first, starting at around 4pm and did not find it crowded, though I completely skipped Cars Land altogether. Around 6pm I think I waited 25 minutes for TSMM, which is low for that ride. I found DL manageable, but I don't mind waiting 40 minutes for Peter Pan (hey, it beats 90). Around 1am the crowds really thinned out. The headliners stayed busy, but Fantasyland was a ghost town. Any time they tweeted something, like free buttons or the Toontown milk and cookies a small mob would form and disperse. I was at the front of the line for Toontown, paused for a pic with a character first, and then didn't get a cookie. If you want to ride Space and BTMRR, and go to any special character, food or freebie offerings it will seem very crowded. If you're just going to wander around and look for non-busy attractions it's not so bad.
