How creative do you get with your faxes for room pref., and do you think ...

The reason I try to get so creative with the faxes I send is because I ENJOY it!!!! It's not extra trouble or work for me, it's part of the anticipation of going . Kindof like reading the new guidebook every year it comes out even though I've been 26 times!
I certinly don't do it to try and get more than I'm paying for. The only things I request are usually non-smoking, and a certain building or area. I always include in bold letters that I completly understand that all things are REQUESTS not DEMANDS, as I realize there's only so much they can do.
It WILL NOT ruin my vacation by any means, but if at all possible to get the few requests I ask for it definatly would enhance it.

MelissaThe Pooh, I have always been told that they do the actual assigning of the room number about 3 or 4 days prior to arrival.:D

I faxed a very plain request to the Poly last X-Mas and got exactly what I wanted. Connecting rooms, third floor, close to the Great Ceremonial House. I think it is somewhat just the luck of the draw. I am sure they try to honor all requests if they have the rooms available to do so.

Sorry if I wasn't clear - I know that the assigning is typically done 3-4 days prior to arrival, but from what I have been told by CM friends and acquaintances is that the order in which they are assigned is based on when the reservation was made -the system generates the list of rooms to be assigned by date the reservation was made.

eg.
I made a reservation for May in December
Someone else made a reservation for May in March
My room would be assigned prior to the other room.

This is what I have been told and I cannot guarantee its accuracy. I know that check in times and complaining or pushy guests can also have an affect on assignments.

There has been a huge uproar at OKW about this as requests were getting so out of hand the rooms are now assigned based on check in - regardless of when the reservation and request was made and its really upset a lot of people.

Like I said if someone else feels its important or wants to do it thats fine, but I hope that it does not increase/decrease anyone elses chances of having their request granted. I make my request when I made my reservation and if they have it available I'll get it.

I've never seen the point to refaxing other than to try and get preferential treatment. Having said that when we stayed in the honeymoon room of WL we did fax because we wanted a MK view and there are only 4 rooms, but that was the only time we ever sent a fax - it was our honeymoon and we wanted preferential treatment!

Who really knows for sure:confused:
I have always been told that when they start to do the room assignments, they first do all of the rooms in which people have paid extra for, ...like water view, savannah view,CR tower...
as well they should because of course people paid for those certain rooms with certain view,
next comes people that have made certain requests and sent faxes, and lastly those who made no requests at all.
I really don't think I'm trying to get preferential treatment by sending a fax.I'm just lucky enough to know that I can, so I do. I don't think it's any different that making PS before you leave home so that you can get into certain places to eat, versus somebody that had no idea what a PS was.
Believe me, I pay for the room/view I want, and I note all my requests on my reservation, so if I send a fax, it's only reminding them of what I already requested anyway . It either works or it doesn't, but what's the harm in trying?

4 days before, and ALWAYS get what I want. I put stickers on the fax paper, and it shows UP on the fax.;) However, I just received my ressie paper for April 5th and on the bottom it said: "View and location NOT guranteed." WOW! Does that mean I shouldn't bother to fax? Oh, well, I will still try.;)

We are staying at the All-Star Music and are paying for the preferred building. Is there a particular floor or area of the building or even which building (I know there are 2) that is either better, or quieter or just plain has something unique about it?

Thanks!

I REQUESTED a room in touch down, facing the pool, third floor, in that order. If a great AP rate comes out for the All Stars, I'll change to preferred. Then request a pool view on the third floor.

When I checked in Sports on our last trip, the CM said they try to honor your first request. She said if you have more than one request, to list them in order of importance.
