How crazy will TRU be tonight?

I got DH's MP3 player for half price - it's usually $99 and I paid $49. YEAH!

Going to wake up at 2:30 to hit Target - they have a DS game for $7 that I paid $17.49 for at Kohls (and THAT was a good price!) Hope my luck holds out. I forgot to mention that at TRU they also gave out a coloring book and a box of 64 Crayola crayons - DS will be psyched about that! ;)

I also forgot to mention that this was the store in Totowa, NJ, VERY close to TRU's headquarters in Wayne. I always prefer this to two other close-by TRUs for me...their customer service here is second to none!

I live in teaneck and I will agree that the tru in totowa is one of the best I have ever been to in terms of customer service, cleanliness, product selection, everything. I will drive there if I have time rather than shop at one ofnthe 2 tru closer to me. Plus now DD dances in totowa so it's easier to justify going all that way.

Luckily I dont have any little kids anymore, but I do have grandbabies and just from past experience this is the one store that I avoid on BF.. its always absolutely crazy there and just isnt worth all that hassle..

LOL...we still drive all the way to our old pediatrician in Tenafly! We wouldn't change if the doctor paid US to switch. When you find what works, it's worth the schlep, right? Happy Holidays!

Thats exactly how my store handled(the Rockaway, NJ store). 50 at a time an it was a roped off line. Also security guards there.

My son and mom are working and its my sons first job. Poor kid pulled in and saw all the people an said he wanted to go :lmao::lmao: I am hoping he makes it till 7am.

I hope your son had a good shift without any major hassles!

We got in line at 8pm. The line was wrapped around the building, down the street & around the bend  It was cold & rainy.

They were letting people in 50 at a time, we were pretty close so we were in by 10:15. It was very organized, checkout lines did snake around the store - but we got thru the line in about 20 minutes.

When we left the store it was about 11:15, the line was still wrapped waaaay down the street!!!!

We got there about 11ish...waited in line to get in about 40 minutes.

We had specific list of what we wanted. We went the week before so we had an idea of location and exactly what we wanted.

So DH and I took turns in line getting things so it wasn't bad at all. We were out by 1:45.

I think a lot of your experience depends on your expectations. We knew it was going to be crowded, we would have to wait in line. etc., etc. So it was exactly how we anticipated it- so we were fine.

I thought it was MUCH better than sitting at wal-mart for 2 1/2 hours in shoe aisle waiting for the DS!

Yes, our TRU was crazy- there were people lined up around the store and down around the mall (TRU is an anchor.) However, it was VERY organized chaos. The best I've ever seen on Black Friday. They gave out tickets in the line, and only let 100 people in at a time. Yes, I had to wait in line from about 8:30 until almost 11 to get in. They managed the crowds very well, and once you got in line to pay, there were two lines and plenty of employees at the front directing people to registers.

The only hot item my group even managed to get was the Buzz Lightyears. The netbooks were long gone and the last Ipod Touch went to a woman behind me. I bought the Santa Sing-a-Majig just because I could. :rotfl: There were at least 15-20 left at the registers at midnight. There were still a few Squinkies, too. Crayons were long gone.

When I left at almost midnight, the line was still wrapped around the store. I'm not sure what would even be left by the time those people saw the inside!

We arrived around 9:30 - the line at that point was around the building and snaking through the parking lot. It was pouring the rain so we stupidily decided to not join the line. So we got out at 10 and joined the line. We got in at 11:30 - frozen and wet. The store had lots of people but I think most of them were in line for the electronics because the boy, preschool and lego/blocks/Playmobil/electronic game (think Leapster, etc) areas were empty. We didn't even go to the electronic area since you had to have all of your other purchases selected before you got in the line for the electronics because you couldn't re-enter the store. I don't know how many they were letting back there at a time but the line snaked through all of the isles on that side of store making it impossible to shop in the girls, arts & crafts and sporting goods isles. We probably only waited about 20 minutes to check out at 2:00 am (snaking through the infant supply isles making them unshoppable) but got some good deals. There were probably still 50 people waiting outside to get in when we left - the rain had stopped but the temperatures felt like they dropped another 20 degrees.
