how crazy will DL be weekend of Pirates ......

Just planning a last minute vacation out to DL. I was thinking May 16-20 but then realized The Pirate Premier was happening. Will the parks be crazy the days preceeding the premiere or just the day of? I can always come the following week instead. How are the crowds in May?

Not to mention, the hotels are pretty much booked up. Even the offsite ones. We booked our trip in January (May 15-19th), and the next week, the PP was all booked up already!

We were in DL the day before the premiere of The Black Pearl. They had grandstands set up in the Fantasmic area, so you had to walk under them to get between Adventureland, New Orleans Square and Critter Country. Tom Sawyer's Island was closed (which is a moot point now) and they didn't have Fantasmic showings. They also closed the park early the day of the premiere.

But we did get free POTC movie posters that they were handing out at the Blue Bayou - pretty cool!

Other than the above mentioned lands, there really wasn't much else going on. But who knows, they may have something special planned for us poor folks who aren't invited to the premiere.

I'd say if you had a choice, go the following weekend. That way you can at least advoid all of those horrid grandstands. They really were a pain to get round.
