Planning our next trip and bc I'm teaching in NY I have to work with the days off we get. Planning on going February 2014 Monday 17th-friday21st.

How crazy is it during this time being that northeast has vacation this week?

We went President's week 2 years ago and said never again. Wait times for the bigger rides were as long as 2 hours. Even the less popular rides had wait times of an hour. We always used rope drop and even doing that only helped for the first 2 hours. For us, it just wasn't enjoyable. :(

1) President's Week is the THIRD BUSIEST WEEK OF THE YEAR.
2) Right behind Christmas/NewYear week and Thanksgiving Week.
3) Pretty much elbow-to-elbow.

It is not just the northeast... many school systems in the south have a break that time as well

We frequently go during President's week. Yes, it's busy, but if you utilize your fast passes and make your ADRs it is definitely doable. We find that hitting parks at rope drop and using the late night extra magic hours are helpful in getting all our must-do's done. I've never waited more than 45 minutes for a ride that week. The worst part about traveling during President's week for us is the airfare!!

Good luck, and have a great trip:goodvibes

Because I also teach, we typically go President's week. I don't find the crowds unmanageable. With planning, fast passes, and using the early and late magic hours, our trip was always enjoyable. This past year we went the last week in June instead and found the parks extremely crowded, worse than our February trips. Living in the northeast my only concern with February travel...snowstorms and airfare cost!!! Have fun planning your trip, go with an open mind, and enjoy yourself!!!

Last year before booking our trip I obviously did some research and folks said it's insane that week. So we decided to go half the week and half into the following week. I think we arrived last year on Wed or Thurs. It WAS insane! It got a LITTLE better as the week went on and we got into the following week. After doing that and the year before going New Years week, I would never go during peak times again! It's super crowded, long lines, crowded restaurants, etc. I know it's tough because you're a teacher so if you do decide to venture there during vacations just know what to expect. :)

Oh NO, I didn't even realize this was President's week... Does it get better at the end of the week? Our first park day will be MK on Fri. the 21st, also doing MK Sunday the 23rd. Is it going to be outrageous with a 4 y/o and 21 m/o? I can't believe I didn't see this info anywhere until now...
