How could this be?

I checked online last week for a standard view room at WL, and when I tried to book it today, it says there are no more standard rooms available for the last week in January. I called also and got the same answer.
Since this is supposed to be a slower time of the year, how is it that all the standard rooms booked up so soon after the 2008 rates were released?

WL is a popular resort and the standard rooms are the cheapest ... so people who are looking for a deluxe experience on a budget tend to snap them up pretty quick. Plus, the WL is pretty small for a WDW resort ... I don't think there are all that many standard rooms. I guess you could keep checking though in case people cancel out before the 45 day mark.

get the next room up in price, and keep checking back for a cancel, im more then sure youll get one. I have had to do that 2 times so far, and it worked both times. Good luck to you!

WL has very few standard rooms, so there is a very good probability that they are all booked up.

You are correct WL only has 728 guests rooms and Suites and very few of them are standard view.

It also might be that they haven't released all the rooms yet for booking. Just keep checking and you might find some more come up later.

The last time we stayed at WL we had a standard booked but when we had arrived we were upgraded to Courtyard View. The standard rooms do book up way ahead.

Have you tried checking other sources, like a travel agent or expedia.com? It couldn't hurt to try.

I checked back online today and there were standard rooms again. I immediately booked so as not to lose the rate again! Yay! It's official!!!!

Yep, standard rooms at WL are hard to come by these days unless you book early. There used to be a lot more when you could get a standard room with bunks but when they changed all bunk bed rooms to woods view or courtyard view, the number of standard rooms went way down. Also, I think the likelyhood of an upgrade makes a lot people book standard and hope for an upgrade rather than pay for what they truly want, so those that really just want standard are forced to take a higher room category when booking. Glad you were able to get one.

And also, just so you know, a courtyard view can also face the villas and not the pool so if you get upgraded, you may not be looking at the pool. I also think some of the woods view will actually look at the employee parking lot on the North side, but that would also have a chance to see the Castle from those rooms also.

Yeah, when we called last Saturday to look at upgrading to WL there were no standard rooms for March '08. The CR guy told me that they go really quickly. There were standard rooms available at AKL though.
