My parents are visiting right now from Ottawa (low of 8 deg F today). They are planning to bring some of the heat back with them in their suitcase next week...I'll see if they're willing to share
You guys in So. Cal. are so much warmer than those of us in No. Cal. The San Francisco Bay area is running in the upper 50s this week. But, we're still a far cry from the poor people toughing it out in the snow!
It's 26 degrees with a wcf of 16 degrees right now in Atlanta... this is 30 degrees LOWER than we're used to this time of year. I'm typing in my Snuggie under a vent and in front of a heater with a sleeping son on the couch and 3 of my 5 cats in front of the heater.
Needless to say this is NOT normal for Georgia!! And I LOVE cold weather!
Update: Got up to -5 . It is now -17 and on its way to -30. With the wind it will be -35-- -40 tonight. I am cozy in my house, cars in the heated garage and kittys curled up beside me sleeping.
It's 22 at my house near Atlanta; I'm not sure about the wind chill but I'm telling you, it just cuts right through to teh bone. I'm so glad I don't have to be outside tonight.
We have a nurse who comes every night to help with Christian. He's from Kenya and he vehemently does NOT like cold weather. He told me he heard it was 22 in NYC and was shaking his head. I told him that it was -22 in North Dakota. Samuel looked at me like and said, "do people live there?"`
A few years back I watched some guy in MN toss water in the air from a paper cup. the water froze and turned to ice crystals before it hit the ground, that was really cool.
