How come you don't move?

I have a good job with great benefits, but I live alone in a 3200 ft. house built in 1860. I would love to move to something smaller, in the same area, but bottom line is, I can't. DS#2 (age 19) is still in college and this is the only home that he knows. After the separation/divorce, I just can't take that away from him. Maybe someday.

Reason #2 -- I'm scared to do all of that alone. I know, it sounds stupid, but cleaning out 21 years of living and moving is going to be so hard.

My family is here, as is much of my DH's. Our friends are here as well. I like the area I live, I love New England, I love the seasons. I wouldn't mind someday being able to spend Janaury, February, and a little bit of March in Florida though!

in December and love it.::yes::

Family.... that's the ONLY reason. BTW- I never saw anything so cute in a basket before!!

Actually, I am moving.

I think the blizzard that kept us down at WDW last February cinched it. MD/DC/NoVA was piled under, so we got to stay an extra 2 days. We drove over to Clermont because we'd heard it was nice and found that it really was.

I thought we were going to move there, but we're not. I head down tomorrow to see WHERE in central Florida I end up...our reasons for moving:

-Hate the cold
-Son has Asperger's Syndrome and UCF has a great program. The schools actually look really good for him
-Mom moved there 5 years ago, in laws are moving this fall
-Mickey will be a day trip, the ocean will be a day trip
-We'll have more people come to visit than when we've lived in Maryland! One sister has given me grief that I'm going to move so far away that she won't be able to visit. I pointed out that I've lived away from LI for 16 years and she's only been here 5 times, and two were for weddings!

I'm not a stranger to moves and thought that when we bought this house, it'd be the LAST move. I'm wrong-two moves in the next 18 months. Rent first, then find the place to live. At least selling this house will be easy!

My husband lost his computer field job a few years ago and spent a year unemployed due to 9/11 and poor market where we are (an 1 1/2 drive into DC). He took a job with the post office, fully intending to transfer to Florida. So he's had the move idea for a LONG time, lol. If it weren't for me, he never would have moved here.

We'll leave behind a few good friends and some great coworkers, but promised them that we'll have a house with a guest bedroom waiting for them all-just not at the same time!

I don't move, because I'm exactly where I want to be. :p

My husband loves his job, my mother (83) lives 1 mile away, with all of her doctors and a hospital within blocks, and her apartment overlooks my son's school, which is next to my church.

Right now it's 75 degrees out. We DO have a bit of winter; just enough to justify lighting the fireplace a few times a year.

My next door neighbors are surrogate parents to my children. They have helped in countless ways; we even had a special gate built in our common fence so my son and their dog could go back and forth without leaving the yard. They entertain and feed my son sometimes; their dog uses our yard and guards our house. We have parties and cook-outs with all of the neighbors, and even have a monthly "Girl's Night Out." I'm sad when I think about moving from this house; leaving the area is unthinkable.

Last, but not least, I'm only 2&1/2 hours from WDW!!!

I had a dream that I moved away somewhere. I actually wouldn't mind moving. I've lived in the south, and I lived out west breifly also.

I visited Boston, and the cape and loved it. I'm kind of keeping my eyes open to see if anything in my field comes up! Is it a good place to live, anyone? :sunny:
