How come you can't go to the Disney website and book and get discounts?

Why would anyone book online if they can't apply any discounts when booking that way? Seems like somehow they could make it where you could plug in codes and come up with the same price you could get by calling them or a travel agent - but I've played around with it, putting in the exact same information as my real reservations, and it always comes out to be a lot more, and there is no place to enter discounts of any kind. Why have online booking if you can't do that? The only people who would book online would be the ones who didn't realize they could use discounts and codes to get a lower price.

You can get the discounts on line go to Walt disney resort vacations, you have to click on the red box that says Vacation Savings that will allow you to book with the discounts that are going on now

Okay, I see that - but what if you wanted to use a DC or AAA or AP discount in addition to the packages shown there? Is there a way to do that? Because I know through a travel agent I got the discounted package PLUS an additional discount for DC.

I don't think the official website has a way to punch in discounts such as the ones you are talking about. However, you might want to try Dreams Unlimited. They have been very successful in getting discounts for many people here on the DIS, and their service is excellent!

I actually used Our Laughing Place for the trip I have scheduled now, and I've been really happy with them. I was just curious if it's possible to book online why there wouldn't be a system in place that would let you take any discounts you could take if you were calling in your reservations yourself...

CORRECT! The website is very easy to use, and more than happy to take any amount of money you're willing to part with.

But to save (really SAVE), we all know requires work on our part. And for "true believers" like us here on the boards, that's a fair amount of the fun. ;)

Also, the only way you can book a reservation is with your credit card. I pay cash for our room so that doesn't work for me online either.

For me, it's better to call so the CM can check availability on the particular discount you are trying to use, and they can better advise you on alternatives should that discount be booked up.

I didn't realize you could get AAA discount in addition to a code rate. Will CRO do this as well or is it just travel agencies?
