I just learned from these boards that the dining locations at CSR are not owned by WDW and I am just wondering why is that?

Many are; some aren't. The locations not owned by Disney are contracted out for, among other reasons, variety and economics.

As Kaytieeldr said, there are many restaurants on WDW property that Disney doesn't actually own.

I knew that a lot of the dining locations at DTD for example were not owned by WDW, however I thought the Resort locations were all owned by WDW. Obviously the expections would the restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin since they are not owned by WDW and the restaurants located inside the Hotels right by DTD on Hotel Plaza Blvd.

It's all economics. It helps their bottom line if they contract out some restaurants. There are quite a few not owned by Disney, actually. Some on the Boardwalk aren't either and most of Epcot isn't.

BTW - It's spelled "dining" not "dinning"

I did not know that about the Boardwalk and the locations at Epcot.
