How come no one is canceling reservations after the 60 mark?

I am a first timer and thought (stupidly I guess) that once the 60 mark came and went, and as people selected their fast passes, they would therefore modify their dining reservations. So, I've been waiting and nothing is opening up. Is it still too early for people to be changing meal reservations, or is it that due to free dining not much will become available? I am signed up for the touring plans and nothing....

Check again around 45days before your reservation. That is when the balance is due and some people will cancel their trips. Also don't give up and keep trying. Some people have success the day before even the day of when/where they want to eat. It also becomes more difficult if you are going during free dining.

I'm pretty sure that the pay-in-full date has changed to 30 days out.

Several dates to consider: Room and package pay in full date, and then every day until 24 hours before the dining time.

If you don't find reservations you want before then, start checking frequently about a week out. Within a couple of days of the day you're looking at, there's a pretty good chance something will open up.

My selection of fastpasses is not going to have an impact on my ADRs because character dining experiences are more important to my family than any single ride experience.

Near 30 days out, you might have some more luck, but I haven't seen a lot of good ADRs at that time either.

I think the date is now 30 days out.

OP- while some folks tweak and cancel ADR's after they plan their FP, I think more people plan their FP around their ADR's. I know that is how I plan. Keep checking, and you will see some appear, and I also suggest looking at the cancelation threads. They are helpful as well.

I plan my FP+ around my ADRs. We don't like to cancel everything we have already booked because of a FP.

You won't see things really open up until the last minute - 1 or 2 days before. For example, searching for a table THIS morning/afternoon, almost everything except BOG, CRT and Le Cellier has at least one opening, most have multiple. I actually think it has become easier to find ADRs a day before than it is 180 days before, lol!

Since Disney is late this year updating park hours and such, I think a lot of people are waiting to tweak FP and dining reservations, holding on to what they've got until they see final changes. Well never really final, Disney can change hours the week or day of.

You will most likely see dining openings around a week ahead if not at 30 days, up to the day of dining.

I use hoppers and plan around ADRs but I do cancel sometimes a week or even a day or two in advance as the situation onsite unfolds. Don't lose faith.

I was just able to get a TH brft for my cousins trip the beginning of Oct. tonight, so keep checking! Also, in late September last yr. I had to change our early Nov. trip to the week before Christmas(also free dining), so I lost all my 180 day ADRs, but managed to get everything we wanted, and even snagged a Holiday Dine with Minnie! I just kept checking daily, and watching the cancellation thread, and as PPs have mentioned adjusted some while we were there, like moving CP (when hours changed that negated my PPO time) to a late brft instead. Good luck!

I book fp+ at 60 days and ADRs when the park hours are settled. I've never not gotten what we want. Mind you we are willing to work meals around everything else, generally we have a very late lunch/early dinner, then snack later at night. Sometimes I may try to adjust our fp+ but usually we make very few changes 2 weeks out. We prefer buffets(for the choices, not quantity- we actually eat less at Disney) or resort dining and we are flexible. There are so many great dining choices.

Keep checking. People do cancel things. When I was about 130 days out I managed to score a BOG dinner for 4 on the night we were planning to be in the Magic Kingdom and and Akershus dinner for 4 on the night we were planning on being at Epcot. We weren't able to book these when we first booked our trip (less than 180 days out) but they opened up about a week or two later. Just keep trying :-)

I assumed 60 days out would have seen a lot of cancellations for our trip too, but that wasn't the case for us either. It was hard not to be discouraged! That said, persistence and patience paid off for us. Just this morning, I got the last ressie on our wish list through touring plans reservation finder. The only thing on my "list" now would be a couple timing changes for convenience.

We booked only 3 months before our trip - during free dining - and ended up getting every single restaurant we wanted, including BOG. Most of this was through touring plans, or the Disboards cancellation thread (which got me my BOG PPO!) So just keep swimming!

Not really related, but an aside on the reservations finder. I have a search going for myself and keep getting random alerts for cancellations around the end of august/early September for several restaurants, mostly in Epcot. It's really odd because our trip is in December and I don't have any Epcot searches going. I can't figure out why this is happening and I've alerted the people at touring plans but I don't think they know what is happening. But, was just wondering if you had had any false alarm resfinder texts? I got so excited the first time one came through and clicked on it right away, just to notice a second later that it was for the wrong month/restaurant!

I've had wrong days come up....but within the week I am going. So I have a search going for Oct 2-7 and for awhile it kept giving me alerts for the 8th. Very odd. I also wish you could do a wider gap for a meal (i.e. dinner from 4-7). I keep getting hits for BOG at 9:45 p.m. Not sure my 2.5 year old would enjoy that!
