How Cold is COLD?

We went on 31st dec and 1st of jan, and we thought it was very cold. I wore leggings under jeans, long sleve tshirt, jumper, thick coat, gloves, hat and scarf, and i was still cold - especially in the 1.5 hr queue for crush's coaster. I also had a hand warmer in my bag, but forgot all about it, until I unpacked my bag back at the hotel!

We usually play a game in the parks that involves spotting people who are wearing ridiculously inapropriate clothing for the conditions (Alton towers is always a good bet for crop tops and mini skirts in freezing temperatures ), but this time in Paris we really struggled to find anyone stupid. The best we got was a lady in a pair of 6 inch pencil heals, which must have been quite a struggle, as I was wearing trainers with a good tread, and I slipped quite a few times.

LOL my family play the same game lol and heels in disney oh my! My feet hurt last year in flip flops

So this is a bit of an update i went on a bargin shop today in primark lol

and bought

2 scarves

3 pairs of gloves

2 hats

4 pairs of really thick socks

full length leggings

and ear muffs

for £12.87

wow what a bargin lol i have to have so many hats and gloves because i couldnt decide on which colour lol and for that price i wasnt too bothered lol

im still on the searchfor a coat i found one but it was £60 id rather save the money be cold in disney and be able to eat when im there lol

We were there last feb and it was FRREEEEEEEZING!!! Saying that, it was not busy so we are returning this feb but will be more prepared for the weather. My DS was the only one with a ski suit last time but this time we have bought one for our DD too and are sorely tempted to let all fashion sense go out the window and buy one each for me and DH too . Although it was cold, it was dry and the photos look like it is the middle of summer the sky is so blue. IMHO I would rather be wrapped up and dry than warm and in the rain.

I remember in 2006 lurking on disney forums etc (yip sad as anything!!lol) and thinking I was weird for wearing ski suits etc! Now it feels we are all a team...

Kids ski suits are made BIG!...my wee fella is 4 in April and thats him just fitting fine into his 3/4 one...he is 99cm tall. Its the same one from last year, same with Jades one, still fits her, my photos are going to look the same!

Ebay is your best bet. I got DD(9) a pair of salopettes for £3.50 and they were brand new with tags. My DD(4) got a pair like dungarees and they cost me £7. I worried that ski suits would be too short in the body, or too tricky for toilet breaks. The salopettes have braces to keep them in place so I thought these would be the best bet. The only other place I thought of was mandmsports. They have an offer of free delivery if you spend £25. We got fleeces, gloves and hats from here. HTH

But you could always tighten the bottom of the leg bit to fit???? The ski suits being big is what I've found with 4 or 5 of them so hopefully the info is right, would hate for you to get a tight one! The ones I have bought have had velcro straps at the bottom of the legs so that can be adjusted to stop them trailing....how tall is your wee one?

funny you asked lol i just measured her. she is 88 cm tall

the measurement for the suit is 35 cm for to the waist she is 27 cm
and the leg is 45 cm and she is 35 cm

i thought knowing that would help me but now im more confused

So I think the waist would be ok with plenty of layers! But 10cm difference in the leg size is quite big unless you bunch it up if it has velceo straps? Would defo fit her next year too though so you would get your monies worth!!

Have you already bought the suit? I found with snow boots being chunky it helped keep the excess leg length

i went for sallopettes and ski jackets for my 2

instead of all in ones

because easier for toilet stops! plus can just take the jacket off when in restaurants etc

they have used the jackets loads on their own too,back home during the winter.youngest is growing out of the jacket a bit now,but the saloppettes are still quite big ( but adjustable with straps etc)

i think you get more use / wear out of 2 piece suits

Yeah that is so true but I got a bargain!lol got Joshuas new in the sale for £17.99 and Jades was ebay £8ish. Jade has salopettes aswell as a suit and a thick jacket, josh I still need to find a spare set/pair to buy! Will do the jacket (for the airport) and salopettes as spare and in the case with his suit lol

you could always buy a cinderella dress in a size 5-6 and fit it over her ski suit?
I'm thinking about taking Jades but wearing it on the warm days....

I'll lend you the skisuit I have for Natasha (turned 2 in December) that I bought on ebay. It is a size 2-3, and just about fits her! but she is very tall - she looks about 3. I can measure her & you can compare the measurements with Ash if the suit is going to be of any use to you. I live in Derry, about 2 miles from the border, so I can post it down to you in the Republic & it wouldn't take long if you want. We'll be back Jan 12th. I got my snowboots in Dunnes years ago for my older daughter (the ones that fit Natasha now), but they didn't have any when I last checked. I got my older daughter some in PriceLess - a cheap shoe shop in Derry for £10.

I am going to Aldi in Buncrana in Donegal tomorrow. They have kids thermal sets for 5.99 euro & I am going to buy some the smallest size is 3-4 though. They also have kids ski gloves/mittens for 2.99 euro. They are also selling kids 2 piece ski suits for 29.99 euro, but they start at age 5 so I'm sure they'll be too big - but you never know until you look. The deals started today (Sunday), but I didn't manage to get today. Sometimes you find that Aldi have something on offer, then Lidl have something similar shortly afterwards.

Anyway, let me know.

I have to say, after our recent visit, that I have never been so cold in all my life. Not all of the time, but walking through the village and to the parks was the worst. BRRRRRRRRRRR. We went on to Switzerland and Austria after Disneyland and were in -10 and lower weather, and I was STILL not as cold as I was at Disneyland . So even though the temperature wasn't as low it felt so much colder.

We had really warm jackets and thermals, but ended up going into val d'europe and my DS got a balaclava he was so cold. I think the worst was on the night of the 13th, it was sleet, wet, windy and waiting in the line at night for the Mickey's magical christmas dinner, it was FREEZING, we were like iceblocks. Walking around the parks wasn't as bad, it was the village, walking to the parks in that wind, in the parks there are the arcades, still cold but out of the wind was not as bad.

that is so lovely of you. i actually found a coat ash got last year and never wore its 3/4 lenght and completly lined with fur so im thinking that might be ok with boots and hat, scarf, gloves. as long as she is warm i am happy lol

Having just got back today it is seriously cold out there at the mo! As you probably know by now it's been snowing today which actually warmed things up a tad, but then you have the problem of the wet to deal with!

I looked at this thread with interest before I went away, wondering whether I would feel the cold that much. To give you a gauge, I don't feel the cold a lot, I often sleep with the window open all through winter, and when I do my lunchtime duty at work (school) I never bother with gloves and scarves and stuff, just a coat zipped up. But I was absolutely freezing at Disney, I actually ended up borrowing my DH's hat for whole time we were there (bless him he used his coat hood, not nearly as warm ). I had also chucked in my gloves and a scarf at the last min (a scarf belonging to my DD as i don't even own one ) and was I glad I did! I was fully wrapped up with a jumper, coat, scarf, gloves and hat all the time.

As for my DDs, they wore thermals, tracksuit bottoms, long sleeved tops, cardigans and 2 piece ski suits over the top, as well as gloves, hats, scarves and Ugg style boots, and were generally snug and warm, even when we stayed out there until gone 10pm.

Had someone told me we would need that many layers before we went I would have thought it was ridiculously excessive-but now I only wish i had had thermals too!!

Despite all that we had a fab time, and the snow was just magic!!
