How cold does DL feel for a Utahn?

It can be shorts weather in Jan./Feb. or it can be rainy and cold.

Most visitors don't realize how chilly it gets in SoCal once the sun goes down. The warmth of the sun may allow shorts during the day, but warmer clothing is generally desired once it goes down. Visitors arriving from freezing conditions generally perceive the coolness to be mild at first, but after a day or so, their body adjusts and they realize it's cold.

As I said above, if we get a surprise heat wave in Jan. or Feb., you'll probably see a thread discussing it somewhere on this board! Weird weather happens, and it never hurts to keep an eye on this board for a heads up the week before your trip!

We just returned to Canada from three days at DL. As Canadians we joke that we are too tough for to be cold in California but I wore a sweater everyday and a “puffer style” winter jacket and toque every night. I was comfortable but not warm! So I recommend to bring more warm clothes than you’ll think you need.

Is it shorts weather during the day Jan/Feb? It would feel weird going from shorts during the day to jackets and gloves at night.

We saw people wearing shorts on Saturday night in the parks. A few of the bigger guys looked fine (they also wore jackets), but most of the other guests looked like they were chilly. Be checking the local weather report (we like abc7.com for Anaheim) and this board the week before your trip dates. Then, if you decide to wear shorts during the day, pack lots of layers! You will probably need them once the sun goes down. Feeling weird changing into jackets and gloves is better than feeling like an icicle!
