My SIL and family are heading down in two weeks. They are thinking about staying at PP and she was told they can use the DLH Pool. How close are the two hotels? Does the monorail run between them? If its too far she may just pay the extra 20 a night to stay at DLH and avoid the hassel. Any other advise or help would be great.

All of the hotels, parks and Downtown Disney are within EASY walking distance of each other. That's the joy of Disneyland. :)

She can walk from the Pardise Pier to the DL Hotel in about two minutes. :)

We paid the extra money for the DLH for convenience to Neverland Pool. It was so crowded at the pool that my entire family hated it (even slide loving 6 year old) and wound up hanging out at the cove pools (near Bonita tower and closer to PP). I wouldn't bother paying extra money again. I'd stay at PP and use PP pool. It was also very noisy at DL Hotel.

Honeymom,

What time of the year did you go? They will be there from a monday to thursday in mid September. Do you think that they might see fewer crowds being midweek? She is going to finalize her plans either tonight or tomorrow sometime. Thanks for the help!

It is about a 3-5 minute walk from Paradise Pier to the Disneyland Hotel Pool. There is no monorail or tram service between the hotels. If they can afford it I would upgrade to the Disneyland hotel as the rooms are bigger and more "fun" than at Paradise Pier.

You will see very light crowds during weekdays in mid-September.

I had a similar dilemma - I have stayed at both properties and asked myself is it worth the extra money to be at DLH? Well for me it's not I go all the time and sure could use the extra money to spend in the parks on food and treats.
The DLH is cool and certainly magical but the PP is nice too. They are both very convenient and personally I would probably walk to swim at another property but my son is only 2 and if he were older and knew the difference he would probably beg to go to the Neverland pool as it is really cool!
As Michelle said the crowds during Sept are MUCH lighter than the summer crowds and the pool would probably not be zoo'd out like in the summer months.
Just my 2 cents - some things to consider.

We were there mid-week in August. I'm sure mid-week September will be far less crowded.

If you have young children in your party, you might want to do DLH. My kids did like the pixie dust on the walls and the room size was very comfortable.

It is probably a shorter walk to Cal Adventure from PP than DLH.

The shortest walk to either park is from the Grand Californian.

The shortest walk to the monorail is from the DLH.
