My dd has a cheerleading camp to attend on the day we arrive back
from the cruise at 9:00 am. I know we will be late already but I didn't
want to be several hours late. I wanted to know if there's anyway my
family and I can be the first group or people to exit off the ship.

I really didn't mind being the last off the ship b/c from what I read on
these post, a lot of you are not ready to go :)

The camp is mandatory and she won't be able to cheer stunt.......blah
blah...blah You all know the rest :rotfl:

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Just came back from the Wonder. They started letting people off at 7:30 am. A small line had formed but moved very quickly. We had to wait for someone so we got off about 7:45 had our luggage and had gone through customs by 8:00 am

The experience yogibigdog had (as well as all current cruisers) is at Port Canaveral. There are very few cruisers who would disagree that the disembarkation at Port Canaveral is the best. We have yet to see what it will be like in California.

JayCee32 - you may have to wait until the CA cruises begin to get a good time estimate. What time does DCL say you will be back at the port?

Duhh!!! :) that would help to give more information. I meant to put that I was doing the West Coast cruise. We will be back at the port at 8:30am. This is my first time cruising with Disney and I have cruised another ship in California and exiting off the ship was organized but LONGGGGGGG...... We also got back to the port at 8:30am but did not get off the ship till 10:00am.

I can't wait for the first cruisers on the West Coast to go so we can read what they have to say.

Got off the Wonder yesrterday 4/24-got in line about 7:40 and off by 8-our hold up was at the rental place-we were at Typhoon Lagon by 9:30-that's only 30 min. off your time. We ate at Beach Blanket Buffet or we we would have had to attend late breakfast.

CA is not a disney owned terminal so who knows what the set up will be....FL debarkation runs like a charm.....but with CA it could be totally different. I would say your best best is to just wait by the doors and as soon as they give the all clear, to head out.

Maybe have breakfast up in Topsiders so you are not waiting for your food in the regular dining room. That should save you some time...you can eat as soon as you get up.

From what little I know about the process, the luggage takes the most amount of time to clear. I would contact DCL and look into splitting your party up, you and your DD to get off early before luggage is cleared to go to camp, and the rest of your party to disembark as normal. Of course this may not be up to DCL at all because it’s US Customs that runs the schedule for coming back into the US.

Great idea Bruce!! I was wondering if there was someone I can contact to ask if we can leave early. I will ask once were there.

We've been in that CA terminal before and needless to say... Pt. Canaveral is definitely more civilized.

You'll definitely want to be at the head of the pack ... so check with Guest Services the day before.

I'm curious to know if Disney will implement the "color" tag system for debarkation for this special cruise run. Otherwise, I don't know how the flow of traffic would work on that terminal. I'll know more first hand on May 28th!

The color system...ugh!!!
That is how Royal Caribbean does it, and if you are one of the colors that is called later, you can literally wait for hours.
I am hoping that Disney will be able to work their "magic" and make California as painless as Florida. Ease of embarkation/disembarkation is one of their strong points.

Don't get me wrong... I'm not fan of that color system either. In fact, we pulled the suitcases out last night to pack for our May DCL cruise and saw that we were part of the "lavender" group. At least on that cruise, Lavander stood for LAST!

I'm hoping Disney does have a better option... but I also hope that option is not to just have everyone filing off en masse as that can be quite a mess at that particular terminal.

It should be an interesting experiment for Disney as they have yet to sail from anywhere than PC. After all, they are going to be contending with a whole new operation and terminal over there that they do not own. In fact, based on the port calendar, it looks like they are indeed sharing that terminal with Royal... so any changes would definitely have to go through "committee" to implement.

Royal and DCL are the only two lines we've tried... anyone had any other cruise line debarkation experiences?
