How can we visit the Resorts?

We go to Disney at least two - sometimes three times a year. It's just my DH and I - we're retired.... I have an AP - and spend lots of time in the parks. There are some afternoons after Jim plays golf that we drive around and see the sights. We've stopped at the Yacht Club resort almost every trip, sat at the tables by the pool and had a drink. We've not tried to visit the others - but I would love to, especially AK. Is there a restriction to who can visit? The guard at the Yacht Club..writes down our license plate number and DH's Driver's License number.....which is fine. Is it permissible to just tell them that we want to visit and maybe have a drink in the lounge? Thanks for your help! Barbara

If you are staying at at WDW resort and you have a parking permit, they usually waive you through. If not, they will probably ask for ID, write down the license #. The only ones that may give you a problem are the monorail resorts and BW.

No problem. Tell the guard you want to look around and do some shopping.

WDW ALWAYS wants to accomodate people who want to spend money at WDW.:D

Typically, you will get a three hour parking pass.

Mum and I love to pretend we are staying at the hotels we are visiting - we must do the monorail resorts together in October!!!

DH and I have a few years to go before the young ones leave the nest, but there was an excursion I read on another thread that may appeal to you now: Appetizers at WL; salads at the Poly; entrees at GF, and desserts at California Grill. I'm sure you could do any combo you wanted but that monorail progressive dinner sounded decadent to me!!

WDW on JUNE 24:wave: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

We just got on the monorail and went to the three resorts on that system. We got off at each stop and checked them out. You can do the same on the bus system out of Magic Kingdom. Just pick which hotel you want to see and hop on that bus. It's great getting to see all of them. My Favorites are still the Swan & Dolphin. I love the Boardwalk area.

We always drive around and check out the different resorts, we've seen most of them.

We just pull up to the guard shack and tell them we would like to look around to know if we would want to stay there on our next visit and it has never been a problem getting in.

The only one we've ever had a problem with is the CR since it is walking distance to MK. In the old days, we used to drive to CR, park, and walk to MK and spend the day. Now they give you two hours and that's it (unless you are staying there).

If you have a parking pass, you should have no trouble going to any of the resorts. Check them all out, that's what we have done.

Have Fun,

MDF

Me and my DH have spent hours just resort hopping, checking things out. You can park downtown and take the buses from the bus stop to whatever resort you want to go to-no restrictions, no questions asked. Or, you can park at Boardwalk, and you can walk and check out not only the Boardwalk hotel but also the Yacht Club/Beach Club/Beach Club Villas and the Swan and Dolphin.
You can park downtown and take the boat over behind/to the left of Rainforest Cafe and go to Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside, and pass (you may actually stop now at Saratoga Springs.) You can park at the Poly and ride the monorail to see Grand Floridian and Contempory and then take a small boat from the Contemporary to Wilderness Lodge and Wilderness Villas and then walk the nature path or take another boat over to the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. I think the only ones left out are AKL but you can take a bus in. Oh yeah, OKW! Take the bus!

You have all made me feel sooooo much better...I thought we were the only ones who ever wanted to do this!! You're all such a wonderful group of people!! I love Disney, but I love the Disney Group even more!! I met my very best friends here on the site.....Wendy and Doreen from Aberdeen......I am so blessed!Leaving on June 10th and can't wait! See you there! I'll have my lime green ribbon on! love from Texas...Barbara
