Does anyone know how we can have our kids participate in the parades?

lol you have to either know them or work there or they invite you in the parade otherwise SORRY!!!

My daughter was in the parade at MGM last week. We just were sitting near ST and waiting about 1 hour before and we were asked. It was a magical experience. :Pinkbounc

What's up with laughing at someone with a very reasonable question? This is a message board, it's where people ask questions. Don't laugh at someone for asking a question, it's rude.

I'm interested in learning how the Grand Marshals are chosen. Anyone know?

There is a new parade in which families will be able to participate and march with the characters. I just heard something about it this week. Either on WDWToday or the Dis Roundtable I think.

I read it as "lots of luck." And, you do need the luck to be picked. I wouldn't assume someone is being rude.

Good luck to all who want to be picked.

We were picked last trip to participate in Mickey's Jammin Jungle Parade and it was completely random. We were walking through Discovery Island just about ready to make the turn toward Camp Minnie/Mickey on our way to FOTLK and I could see this man walking toward us. For those of you who are familiar with where I'm talking about you know there is a DVC location near there and I thought for sure we were going to get some pitch about buying a timeshare so I told DW hurry up and don't make eye contact. Fortunately, we were "caught" and had a great time on the alligator float.

In MK, Grand Marshalls are usually chosen on Main Street, completely at Random. Basically a Guest Service CM watches the crowd then picks out a family...of course I've heard from both CM's and Guests who have been picked that it doesn't hurt if everyone in your goup is wearing mickey ears, matching t-shirts, etc...usually things that show you are REALLY into Disney and REALLY happy to be here. (although that's definitly not a requirement, to be chosen...)
I never really watch the parades in the other parks, but in MK, the afternoon parade (Share A Dream), no longer selects children from the audience to come up and dance with the characters...I actually sorta miss that...it was cute...and the kids were so happy...but Disney had great reasons for stopping this process. Hopefully when they finally get a new parade it will be set-up so that children can particpate/dance with the characters again.
I haven't heard anything about this new parade where families can march with the characters? But I'd love to know more! Where? When? Anything :)

I really miss the kids getting to participate in the Share a Dream parade, too (even though it's a different parade now.) DD had the best luck getting selected to dance with the characters -- once, Minne even took her by the hand and walked around just with her as the characters were all waving goodbye. I have some guesses, but I wonder what the official reason is they stopped. Anyone know?

The showstops were stopped because of a tragic accident back in 2004. It is much safer this way.
