How can I use this picture in my wedding?

So I was putting away our annual passes in my fire safe and I found a bunch of old pictures my uncle had given me of my family. I found this picture:

photo-1.jpg

And the date on the back... October 12, 1944. 65 years ago, on the same day Rob and I are to be married. I had no idea!

I guess I should explain who all is in this picture!

The woman with the hat on the left is my maternal grandmother - Gertrude - she would die in 1947 due to complications in childbirth with my uncle(you can see her much better in the photo in person). The bride in the middle is my great aunt Catherine who died in 1992 from cancer. And the maid of honor on right is my beloved great aunt Tee (real name Elizabeth) who died in 1996. Those were the 3 daughters in the family.

I would love to use this somehow in the wedding, but I'm not crafty or anything. Any ideas you all have would be appreciated. :goodvibes

maybe you could get wedding pics of both your familiy and DF's family, frame them, and have them on the cake table or around the reception somewhere?

On our guest book table, we had a sign with our names in the center, and then on either side we had wedding photos or old photos of our parents and grandparents. Then we had the guest book in front of those.

I am putting together a slide show using I-movies with pictures of the married people attending my wedding and family members who have passed away wedding pictures. I am going to play it to the song Love is a Beautiful Thing by Phil Vassar.

You should check out Lindsay22's PJ. Her sister Caryn made these really cool little frames with pictures of Lindsay's cats inside them. She attached these frames to her bouquet to carry down the aisle with her. Perhaps you can shrink the photo down (I don't know how big it is) and do something similar, so you have the picture close as you walk down the aisle?

Here's the link to Lindsay PJ...

Okay...there are 76 pages to that PJ and I have no clue when the pictures were posted. How about this....

Caryn (CarynDisneyDiva) also posted pictures of them on a DIY Projects thread:

Hope that helps!! :goodvibes

Is this the type of things you were talking about?

I always thought picture charms are a cool way to have a loved one "be with you" on your special day.

Additionally you could use this picture and other family wedding pictures as table cards at your reception. It's a great conversation piece.

That photo is beautiful. What a happy coincidence. I'm not sure where I saw it now, but I have seen brides with a printed ribbon of photos or a photo that is special to them, and then tie it around their bouquet before they walk down the aisle. I think you can get it from any place that does personalized photo gifts. If you don't want to go down the route of actually putting the picture in with your flowers, this might be a nice alternative?

I found this:

while browsing centerpiece ideas for our wedding.

They suggested putting it on the Guest book table or next to the "Greeting Card Box"

I love the idea of including those that "can not" be there in a creative way.

Congrats & Best Luck!

WOW those are cool- you could do so much with this idea.

When my sister was getting married she stumbled upon a wedidng day pic of our great grandparents that was the same date as hers but 70 years earlier! She got a beautiful antique frame with places for two pictures and wrote out a sweet story and then placed it next to the guestbook. All the guests saw it and thought it was a sweet story.

Thanks for all the great ideas you all! As always I knew I could count on you guys! :goodvibes

What I'm thinking of doing is blowing it up to a 5 x 7 and getting an antique looking frame to put on the guest table. I don't want the original getting lost of course. I've already got the small frames for my bouquet. I've got two of them - one is for my great aunt Tee (the one all the way on the right), and the other one is for Rob's (DF) grandmother who died in 2004.

Do you all think the one picture will look ok all on it's own? That's the only old timey picture we have of people who have passed - it's the only one we have of people getting married. :confused3

We are having a family table at our ceremony with pictures of family (either deceased or just unable to be there.) There will be pictures of siblings, nieces and nephews and parents. There will be a special picture of my mom and a flower for her (she died from cancer last Tuesday).

Well, I kind of like the idea of framing it along with a short story explaining the picture. Then, so it doesn't look so empty, maybe take some of your parents wedding photos and have them printed in black and white to go on the table as well. Or even some of your baby photos in black and white as well. Just make it a family picture area so it doesn't look quite so sparse. :thumbsup2

I wish I could do my parents, but they had a really bad divorce (2nd worst in Massachusetts history, or so I've been told), so if I put that out my Dad will not be happy. Rob's mother hates her wedding pictures even though they just celebrated their 40th anniversary. Go figure.

Maybe pictures of the people we're putting in the program for the memorial vase - my sister, both sets of grandparents, step-aunt, etc... It would end up being about 14 pictures. Too cluttered maybe? :confused3 Hmmm...
