How can I organize my recipes?

I have many great recipes that I use often, but I can't keep them organized.

I have recipes from the newspaper, from magazines and from websites.

I do not want to write all of them on recipe cards and file them in a box. I want to organize them by category and have them easy to find.

I type my very best recipes into Word and print it out when I need it, but I have too many recipes to continue.

The only other thing I can think of is to use page protectors in a three ring notebook. But isn't there a better way?

Is there something electronic/computer /scanner something out there to help me get these recipes organized?

I want to do the same thing! There are two software programs that I am considering: Mastercook and DVO Cook'n Deluxe. I'm not sure what my hesitation is, other than I can't make up my mind! Anyone here have experience with either of these programs to help me make a decision?

:confused3

Dh has a recipe program -- but you have to type in all your recipes and then if your computer crashes I have no idea what happens.

I wish I had a great organizational tip. My recipes are in folders in my basement. Some have been there forever! The ones I really like are in a folder in my kitchen but they are in no particular order.

My DMIL has photo albums - you know the cheapie peel back the clear film, and stick the pics in kind..?

She has a few, each one for a different thing, ie, desserts, meals (soups and casseroles) etc..

Works great for her:)

It certainly is easy, batter spills wipe right off, and she has recipes in there written by ladies - family and friends - who are no longer with us. As she says, it's nice to have something in their handwriting:goodvibes

HTH!

How do they hold up if cut out of a mag - do the pages yellow? I have a pile of cookery magazines about 3' high, which I need to sort through, tear out the recipes I want and send the rest to DS(13)'s school for their new Food tech department. I did have a concertina folder with recipes in by category, the idea being I'd write them up as I used them - well, I've written up quite a lot and the book is full :rotfl: Now I'm scrapping I am slowly emptying albums which could be used for this instead :goodvibes

They yellow a little, especially the newspaper ones.

But the recipes all still taste good when you make 'em!! LOL!!
