How can I open the car hood if the release latch doesn't work?

My spare car release latch for the hood doesn't seem to be working, I think the lock may be rusted or just stuck but in any case I can't open the hood. Any suggestions what I can do??
I hate letting that car just sit there since it runs without a problem but I like having that third car.

you need to find somebody handy. I had a car many years ago where this was broken, but maybe not the same way. My husband ran a piece of heavy wire somehow in the opening. What it did was, when you pulled on the wire it undid the latch and you could open the hood.

We had our local service station run a wire similar to the one Tigeroo described. In fact, I don't think they had to redo the whole wire - just removed the interior knob.

Actually I had my dd hold the latch inside the car while I was doing the one on the hood and it opened , I guess it was just stuck but it works now. I think I will do the wire thingy though just in case this thing breaks on me. Thanks.
