How can I get AAA and the Dining plan?

There has got to be a way to book a room and use my AAA discount, but still add on the dining plan. I really don't want to go through a AAA travel agent.

Can I just book room only with AAA and add the dining plan when I check in? I can't imagine Disney turning down my money.

Anyone? Ideas?

I've heard the only way you can get the AAA price of a room & dining is through a AAA TA. I don't know what would happen if you added dining when you get there?? Even if you didn't have AAA discount, can you add dining when you get there? I know you can change your tickets once you get there, but I haven't read any posts adding dining...I'll be interested in knowing this too.

I think that I read that dining can only be added 3 or 5 days beforehand. It can't be done at check in.

AAA packages can only be booked through AAA agents. Can you walk up and say I want to change my room only to a package reservation, I don't know that answer. I do know that the DVC can book DDP without a package and that has to be done in advance of check in, it can't be done at check in. What is the cancellation policy for a room only reservation? Wouldn't you be cancelling one kind of reservation to make another? If they let you change to a package at check in I bet it would be at rack rate.

In order to get AAA discount and dining you MUST book with a AAA agent. Keep in mind that there are only limited amounts of rooms at the AAA discounted rate.

I was made to understand that the DDP was contingent upon RACK RATE room reservations. That you could not get discounted rooms and the DDP.

Has this changed?

AAA has discounted packages as long as there is availibility. The paying the rack rate to get dining thing only applies to the free dining promotion that they offered last year. The discount that AAA offers varies by season and is 10-15or20%. I don't know the actual dates of the seasons. If i remember correctly some people when converting to free dining last year where able to get a AAA discount also.

I have a very good experience with my AAA travel agent. I think she put the package together faster over the phone than WDW did, and it was as good as Disney's price but I got a bunch of extras including tickets to AAA Story Time at the MK and the AAA parking pass. We also got a free meal at Hard Rock which we didn't even have a chance to use.

At the last minute I decided to add a day onto the stay and the AAA agent did that with no hassles at all. I plan to use them again.

She ended up booking through a relative who works for Liberty travel, as she got better airfare than we could find online. Would my friend have gotten a better deal for POR if she booked through AAA? Or would all the discounted 5 sleeper rooms probably be gone by now?

People say that AAA rooms go fast, but honestly, you just don't know until you call. There are cancellations all the time.

You are referring to the free dining. You had to pay rack rate to get the free dining plan.
