This place looks soooo nice! I am sooo tempted....I tell you I am soooo overwhelmed at all the options....I just have to book my trip and plan to book many others so I can do Disney all different ways! Then I can list them in my Sig!!!

Nope. Wyndham puts you up in a "serviceable" hotel. That way, they can better point out the differences between hotels and a timeshare unit.

There might be infrequent stays at the resort itself as part of the tour, but usually not.

Your best bet is to be flexible, be able to travel on short notice, and be able to travel offseason. Keep an eye on ebay. Owners with 1M+ "qualified" points can book units on 60 days notice at half the point cost, and some of these owners rent out via ebay.

We bought 5 nights at Bonnet Creek for $700 on ebay. The seller had perfect rating and has sold hundreds of timeshares in different areas so we felt very safe. It was a two bedroom/two bath and very nice. This was about a year ago.

If anyone has had a good experience renting from a individual or company I would love to hear about it. Have spoke to a few people and prices are pretty much the same. Would love to get a direct reccomendation.

I'm staying in a 2-bedroom 12/6 -12/14 for $920. We were a SSR last December but I couldn't get a deal so we opted for BC. I am really looking forward to staying there. It's got to be the closest "offsite" on property!!!

It appears that you can get get a decent rate if you rent from an owner.
One nights are anywhere between 100 - 150 per night. Two bedrooms are anywhere from 120 and up per night depending on season/holiday etc.
I am in the process of renting in January. The place looks beautiful. Looking forward to packing less and having a laundry!

What does an owner that I rent from need to provide to me? A copy of the reservation (emailed, faxed?). Is PayPal my safest way of making this transaction? Any other tips?

Always use a credit card (even with Paypal).

My owner only asked for a deposit (through paypal) once I had received written confirmation from Wyndham Bonnet Creek that the room had been booked for my dates, and in my name. The deposit was a thrid of the amount, and the remaining balance was due 45 days out. I thought this was win-win because I didn't have to "trust" that he would book for me - it was already done before committing financially.

Not sure what the poster's intent was either. When paying through Paypal, the owner would not acquire any of your banking info. Paypal would send "cash" on your behalf, and either take your payment from your bank account or your credit card depending on how you set up your registration with them. Perhaps the poster feels you should not give Paypal any more info than they need

heard of problems with paypal - people complainting (even with no proof) and paypal going after your account.

right now had problems with credit card company paying companies after i had canceled the account. WITHOUT MY PERMISSION.

when I rent my DVC - ask for half now and half 90 days before you go - so everyone had different terms. also will take a personnel check. If have problems never do business with you again.... So far no problems at all.

If you have a problem with the unit, paypal may not protect you. Also, they have a timeframe that you have to complain within. I actually had a situation with a new laptop that I bought on ebay through Paypal. The problem developed outside of their timeframe (the warranty was never transferred). If I had not used my cc, I would have been out of luck.

So, yes, I definitely view it as an extra layer of protection (insurance, if you will). While I use Paypal regularly (and actually only buy from buyers who accept Paypal), I want my credit card's backing for big purchases.
