i recently ordered my Disney Gift cards using my Target Red card. I had heard the rumors about ticket price increases so I wanted to purchase those separately before the increase. However, shipping hasn't been very kind to me; I've been waiting a week. Tracking says they won't be delivered until 2/25. I currently have a room only reservation for August. If I call today and add the tickets, changing my reservation to a package, I will avoid the ticket price increase. However, isn't it true that if a room only discount is released and I want to add it, won't I get hit with the increase in ticket prices anyway?? Am I missing anything??

A CM told me on the phone that adding a discount will not increase the ticket prices but we all know how reliable their individual answers are.

Edit: I just re read your post....sorry that your cards won't be in. If you have the funds pay attention to my original post...lol

Use Undecover Tourist. They are an official Disney Ticket source, and they are fantastic. You can link your tickets to your MDE and they will be linked to your magic bands and you will be able to make FP+ selections. Maybe I shouldn't be advertising this because I need to get our tickets lol.

I wish I could buy them today. The money I saved for the tickets I spent on gift cards. The balance of my trip was to be paid with my tax refund. Unfortunately neither will be here today :(.

We have had packages booked before and not been exposed to ticket price increases. But my understanding is that the increase does kick in if you make changes to that package.

Can you or someone you know (and who trusts you) purchase them with their credit card? You can them pay them back with the tax refund and use the gift cards to pay for the room or food.

I have no experience personally, but I read on the resorts boards in a thread I had posted in that if you have a package and are applying a package discount, then no, it's not subject to price increases. But- if you go from package to room only, then yes, you'd pay the higher price. If that's accurate, then if you book a package, you'd need to stay with a package.

can she put the tickets on the package and just pay the deposit? Does she have to pay for the whole trip today?

This is what I was hoping to do; add the tickets today, lock in the price and have my reservation change to a package. What I wasn't sure was if I wanted to add a room discount ( if one opens up) then would my package now go back to room only and trigger a price increase for the tickets.

Just thinking out loud. What if you changed it to a package with tickets, and let's say you're going for 9 days....

If a room-ONLY discount opens up, you change to a split stay, and move your package+tickets to the first day canceling the remaining 8 off the package.
Then get the room-ONLY discount for the remaining 8.

If a package discount opens up, hopefully you'll be able to apply that.

I'm not certain this would work. Sorry your hard worked plans fell through on account of shipping woes!

Any change made to a package will result in the new ticket price. When free dining was released last May, you had to pay the increase in order to add the discount to your existing package. The only way to pay today's ticket price is to book and leave it as is. The increase on multiday tickets is only a couple bucks per day. I wouldn't stress over it too much. Whatever deal you add later will still be a savings.

Also, room only discounts can be added to a room only stay OR a package. The term "room only" just means that the discount is only applied to the room portion of your stay, NOT that the only thing you can book is a room ONLY.

Assuming I change to a package, would adding a discount to the room still trigger the ticket price increase?

If it is a package, and you are changing a portion of that package (such as the room rate), then yes. ANY change. ANY! Lol

I had to get away from the computer for a bit dernit. But what if @tookydo changed the package to a split stay first, with the tickets on the first one, and the rest of the stay on the other. That should work.

The ticket increase is pretty minimal. Wouldn't be worth the hassle of a split stay. Plus it's too late now anyway. Lol
