How can Disney Visa Reward points be used?

I have a Disney Visa and have been building up my reward points in anticipation of our next Disney trip in Dec 2005.

I just read somewhere that reward points cannot be used to purchase park tickets. I was very disappointed to hear this and was curious what other restrictions were on the reward points.

I assume that I can use the points for food and merchandise.

Thanks

You can purchase park tickets with Reward Dollars. The advertising for the Disney Visa card even says so! You do have to purchase them from Disney, though - I don't think the discount brokers accept them.

If you post this over on the Budget board, I'm quite sure someone will post that they already used reward dollars for park tickets. Someof them purchased at TDS.

You can also use reward dollars for pretty much everything on site.

Best wishes -

P.S. I copied this from the website for the Disney Visa:

Earn 1% or more1 in Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM
You'll earn Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM equal to 1% on purchases charged to your Disney's Visa® card. Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM may be redeemed for most Disney merchandise, park tickets, hotel nights, food and more at Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® Resorts - including theme parks, and Disney Cruise Line®, Disney Store, Disney catalog and DisneyStore.com. Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM can even be used in combination with special offers and discounts.

I just used my Disney Rewards Dollars to order my admission tickets on line. There is a place on the website to put in your disney reward card number and amount of reward dollars you want to use. They then calculate the remaining balance to put on a credit card. It was amazingly simple.

We use ours for my DW and kids to buy pins while they are at WDW. Makes the pin collecting easier for all of us.

I'm saving my reward dollars to pay DVC maintenance fees. Somehow that makes me feel my stays at WDW will be "free". :teeth:

You can't buy your tickets from a broker, but you should be able to buy them with your rewards card from the Disney Store, Disney Online, a Disney resort, or at one of the parks (wouldn't recommend as that would be more expensive). You also probably could buy UPH as part of a package, but I don't know if you have to do that directly through Disney or if you can do it through a travel agent when using the rewards card. We bought our 4-day hoppers from the local Disney Store and it was the cheapest way since it didn't include shipping like disney online does.

I haven't decided if I want to use the rewards card to buy our tickets, or if I want to use my Disney Visa at the Disney Store well in advance so I can earn more rewards to use while at Disney.

You can also use rewards at all Disney owned businesses, including restaurants, stores and resorts, as well as the parks. There are a few restaurants at Disney that aren't Disney owned, such as Rainforest Cafe and Fulton's in Downtown Disney. Someone a while back had a problem using their rewards card at the Biergarten restaurant in World Showcase, but I'm hoping that was just a case of workers not being aware of the program.

I had over $400 in rewards points for my last trip, and my Rewards Card paid for all our meals, ex. Mama Melrose, Whispering Canyon, Concourse Steakhouse, and the food courts. I even had some left over for pins. It was very easy to use, very happily accepted by the CMs.

The one thing I found out that I couldn't use the rewards for is purchasing Disney$. I usually use it to pay for meals too.

I had $450 for last trip. It paid for alot of restuarants, pins and other gifts. The dollars may not build up as fast as other rewards programs, but it is the only reward program we actually use.Our mileage visa card before added up to alot , but we can never use it.Between blackout dates and full flights, it was getting annoying

When I signed up to get my card, I was told I couldn't buy Disney Dollars with the rewards card. However, a few people on this board posted that they did buy Disney Dollars from the Disney Store with their rewards card.

I was RED HOT when I found this out only after calling for my disney dream dollars!!! I put my WHOLE TRIP on the stupid card at 18% APR. I told the person I was SO UPSET because I had really anticipated the extra money. I am paying it off and closing the account as fast as I can!!!

Does anyone know if you can use your Rewards card with the street vendors in the parks? For soda, ice cream, snacks, etc?

Also, can you just add the Rewards to your room account?

Can you use it towards buying the Dream Maker with Silver Plan package?

Thanks :)

sramille--I believe you can use your rewards card at most street vendors in the parks, as long as they accept credit cards. You also can apply the rewards card to your room account bill at a Disney resort.

FFerret--Yes, you can use your rewards card toward a package vacation. You can use the Disney Visa to buy the package and then not have to pay interest on it for 6 months. I believe they also have offered Disney Visa holders special prices on the packages.

We also had around 400 reward dollars our last trip. We used them to splurge at a few character meals that were fun (Chef Mickey and Garden Grill). The $'s went fast since there were eight of us.
