How busy will it be on Jan. 1?

We arrive on Jan. 1 and want to hit the parks asap. We should be getting there around 2:00 that afternoon. We would like to start at MK because it is my DD's(5) first trip. Since that is the last day that "The Land" will be open we want to make sure that we get over there before it closes. What are the crowds expected to be like at Mk and Epcot?

Expect it to be very busy. The best time to get there on Jan 1 is at opening, even more so than usual, because the crowds show up later in the morning because a lot of partiers are "sleeping it off' that AM.

Very crowded last year. By 10:00 long long lines. In the afternoon, the back of MK was almost gridlock. If you are going to be there for several days, you might consider holding off on MK until 1/3 or later.

January 1 is usually pretty crowded, and this year it will probably be moreso since the 1st is on a Saturday and most people won't start heading home until Sunday. You shouldn't have a problem getting into Epcot, although it will be wall-to-wall people by nightfall. MK will likely close at capacity early in the day and stay that way until after the parade. Once the parade is done, it will empty out enough to let new guests in, but it will still be VERY crowded.
