How busy is Aulani at weekends?

Hello,

My fiancé and I will be at Aulani in March for the last leg of our honeymoon. I'm planning to spend most of our time at Aulani and only travel around the island for 1.5 days (we're doing a lot more on the Big Island, this is our quiet time!). We arrive on Wednesday 25th and leave on Monday 30th.

I've heard that Aulani can become quite crowded at weekends so I am wondering whether we should schedule our touring away from the resort for Saturday and Sunday? Or should I space our "active" days out and say go off touring on Thursday and Saturday, allowing a full day at Aulani on Friday & Sunday?

I'd like to spend Sunday afternoon at the resort before we pack to catch an early flight on the Monday morning (leaving Aulani at 4.30am is going to be really hard...).

If it helps, this is what we have planned for our day and a half out touring:-

Full day:
Early morning hike at Diamond Head (would like to catch the sunrise)
Drive along the H3 to Nu'uanu Pali lookout
Kualoa Ranch
Afternoon along the North Shore
Quick stop at Dole Plantation
Back to Aulani

Half day:
Early morning Pearl Harbour tour
Leonard's Malasadas for breakfast on the way back to Aulani

Thanks for your help!

Weekends are very busy at the resort, but it sounds like you are going during spring break...I imagine it will be busy all week, but worse on the weekend. Touring Saturday sounds like a good plan.

Oh no, I thought spring break was later?! We're from the UK so it's slightly different for us. That's a shame, I was hoping for a lovely relaxing time at Aulani. Looks like I'll have to schedule some time in the spa!!!

Thank you for your reply Girimama33.

It looks like you may actually be missing the Spring break week for the local schools! (3/14-22) But I'm sure it will be spring break for some schools on the Mainland, which will bring in some larger crowds.
Some advice, especially when Aulani is busy, I would try to avoid leaving the resort (with your vehicle) around Check-out time (11am) or Check-in time (3pm-4pm).
