My best friend and I are going to be at Disney World ~ Sept. 8-12, 2005 and I just wanted to know how you think the parks would be then( how are the crowds, weather, etc.)?

Thanks for any info. you can give me!

We were there in 2001 at the exact time. The crowds were absolutely wonderful but boy was it HOT and HUMID!!! Get ready to spend 1/2 your budget on water just to keep somewhat "cooled" off. No more than 10 min. wait for rides. Have a great trip.!! :cool1:

I know a number of DIS'ers going on the DVC Member Cruise (Sept. 4-8) are planning to spend a couple of days at the parks afterwards. We'll be among them - at least the 8th and 9th.

We also were at Disney the same week of 2001 (ASMo-Dalmatians)! As said, it was HOT, but the crowds were small. It was a great week. DD4 celebrated her birthday that week, and the CM's were great!!!!!!

Very, very quiet at that time of the year. Everything will be essentially a walk on. Still hot and humid here, but no more than July and August when there are a zillion more people in the parks. Great time for using the resort pools and water parks too....something you can't always do at other low crowd times of the year. I think that this year there may even be less people here in September because last year we had all the hurricanes and folks may be hesitant to book at that time of the year again. But the hurricanes were a real freak thing this past year so it wouldn't keep me from booking. You'll have a great time...

We went that time in 2002. It was mostly great!

Downsides:
-Several closures for various reasons (seemed to be more than other times)
-Weird weather meant we had to be prepared for anything all the time
-Night of Joy Friday & saturday means MK closes early. Entry to the special event is a separate ticket.
-Very limited night parades/shows at MK. No extra showing of the fireworks to make up for saturday's early closing. Fantasmic & Illuminations were still shown nightly.

We were there over 2 weekends so it was okay for us.

Thanks everyone for all the great info.! It sounds we should have a blast! And am sure we will be in the pool a lot, at our resort!

BF and I were there last year 9/10-9/14. We were supposed to be there a week earlier but Frances decided to come to town so we had to change our plans and ended up there the following week. The crowds were pretty much non existant! It was wonderful. I don't know how much of that had to do with Frances and Ivan (on his way) but we didn't wait in line for a singe ride (even the big ones), most of the time we were the only 2 people on disney busses, the only full bus we were on was after illuminations at epcot. The pools at POR were EMPTY! the foodcourts were EMPTY! DTD was EMPTY! It was great! It seems like a good time to go because most schools are just back in session and a lot of families don't take kids out of school that soon into the year.

As for the weather...it was HOT and HUMID!! It rained every day at about 4 for about 15 minutes to cool things off but that was it. We made a daily trip back to the hotel in the heat of the afternoon to jump in the pool, cool off, rest, shower and then head back out to the parks. We loved it. I admit, there were times I thought I was going to DIE from heat exhaustion but when those times hit, we'd duck into an air conditioned shop or building for a few minutes to cool off and then move on.

We're already planning on our next trip for this year...hey, maybe we'll be there at the same time as you. My bday is 9/9 and I've decided that I want to make that our yearly "kim's bday" trip!

We are also planning to go to WDW sometime in Sept. This will be our 1st trip and dd's 5th bday!!!!

We can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunkissed212, that would be very cool if you where there the same we are going to be there! And Birthdays at Disney World is even better! My birthday is the 5th of sept. and we won't get to Disney World until the 8th, but I still think of this as a Birthday trip~with my Best Friend!

For those who have been in Sept. before, have you ever gone to the Night of Joy? My best friend and are going to go to this year for the 1st time, we can't wait!
