How busy are the parks on D23 weekend?

Heading to DL for the 9-12th and I was wondering how busy the parks are during D23 weekend? Are they not as busy since everyone is at the convention center? Does it get crazy crowded later in the day once people get tired of being at D23? I booked these dates 11 months ago before D23 was announced to stay with our new VDH DVC points and we are not attending any D23 events. We have 4 days to enjoy the parks, I’m not sure what to expect.

I imagine this weekend will be busier than most but most in the evenings. Convention goers are usually busy during the day but have nothing to do in the night. I would expect the 12th to be very busy, as there are ticket deals for con goers with most going before or after.

Already signs of the increase in crowds from D23 when looking at wait times today.

Sounds like the best plan is to try and stack my LL multipass return times for the evening hours.

Actually, it should be way less busy than previously. There are panels at the Honda Center at night, F 7-9, Sa 7-9, Su 5-7. Many people have tickets to these but not all. They have panels at ACC at night too this time for people that won’t be going to Honda. They are good panels and should draw a lot of people.

The expo will likely have little to no effect on park crowds beyond non Honda center goers potentially entering in the evening (after 7pm). I could see a slight last hurrah before school starts uptick this weekend with LAUSD going back on Monday along with a bunch of other districts.

The morning was not busy at all at CA we have LLMP and most return times were almost immediate with the exception of guardians. It did get busier as the day went on. We went to Napa rose for dinner and never made it back into the parks after dark.

Guardians “sold out” so early on wed & thurs too. Wait times in the afternoons were intense… 75/90 min. I think having the coaster break down didn’t help on Thursday as many of us got MEP from it. I may have also used an early am Indy breakdown on it.

I’m thinking Monday is going to be crazy busy here since the events at the convention center will be over.

I just wanted to come back and update our experience in the parks on D23 weekend for future reference. Our park days on Fri-Sun were definitely not very crowded with most of the rides having less than 30 minute wait with the exception of Guardians and Indy. The LLMP had almost immediate return times for most rides, so we never waited long at all for anything. Monday in the park however was noticeably more crowded with wait times double what they were the days prior and LLMP returns times went further out in the day and ran out faster for the most popular rides by mid day. I wouldn’t let D23 happening at the same time when planning a trip to DL deter me from booking a trip, the hotel costs in the area were probably more inflated but we used DVC points so it didn’t affect our budget.
