How Budget Friendly was your weekend?

I was pretty proud of my family -- we ate in every meal except Friday night. For us, that's worthy of a thumbs up. It's a rare Sat/Sun that we don't grab some fast food while we're out running errands or go out to lunch just to get out of the house.

Friday - Spent $50 at the grocery store; it was my Sunday to do lunch (my mom, my sister and I split doing Sunday lunch after church for the whole family) and I got a good deal on a whole center-cut pork loin for $1.99/lb. Still have a lot left over for another meal this week, too, so that's +. We also had a family get-together on Saturday night to celebrate my sister's birthday and I did a dessert and some cheese dip and chips. All that included in the $50, plus some chicken that I planned to cook Friday, but we wound up going out. Dinner out was $46 at a local place, for 4 adult entrees. I had a 10% discount card.

Saturday - Zippo. Didn't go anywhere except to my sister's for dinner.

Sunday - My husband spent a little money at the grocery store for some chicken gizzards to use as bait (he went fishing in the afternoon), and some cornmeal and skewers. He made homemade corndogs for supper.

Don't ask about today, LOL. I put gas in the car, and made my typical run to the grocery store for my weekly groceries. It wasn't too much, though, about $60. And my older son needs some shoes, so we may go shoe shopping tonight. That won't be cheap.

We went to to my DD's state championship swim meet in Milwaukee. Gas round-trip to Milwaukee, 3 nights of a hotel room, $54 worth of admission fees to watch our DD swim, another $50ish fees for *her* to swim, food from Thurs-Sun, and the real kicker .... $265 for a new technical swimsuit.

No, it was not a budget weekend.

Good news is she got 3 new personal bests and her 100 back and 200 back times will get her some good looks from college coaches.

I hear you on the budget busting of swim! Older daughter had districts this weekend , not too bad except the tech suit and $40 for a t shirt and food. But my younger daughter all of a sudden figured out how to go fast and made Junior Olympics - 4 days in a different city from older dd's districts. So then it was me driving back and forth between the 2. Tech suit for her plus everyone gets the JO jacket, car magnet etc. And now both girls will go to YMCA districts, most likely states and the oldest maybe nationals... more hotels , more food out, more gas... love supporting their passions but my wallet is going to start crying soon.
Congrats to yours on personal bests and getting to states! I make myself feel better by thinking about how hard the kids are working for it. So I remain proud, but poor! Lol.

Very cool! I forgot about the $55 state hoodie, but my DD will wear that thing all year. The tech suit will be done by next year this time if not sooner. Ugh.

The meets are all so different in other states. We don't have 'districts', but 'regionals' which is our meet before state. After state we have 'sectional' which are the Speedo Zone meets. My dad qualified for our Speedos but we made plans for the weekend that can't be changed. In the summer we also have 'zone' meets which are long course meets for 14 and under swimmers. Which Nationals meet is your older dd shooting for?

Friday
Budget buster-My 10 year old vacuum cleaner died, a new one was $500.
Spent the night at my fathers, Dad paid for takeout Chinese-$10 for gas.

Saturday
Worked in the yard, grilled out for dinner.

Sunday
Went to a craft fair. $25 on food, $20 on a cookbook, $5 on gas

Friday Night Pizza Take-Out: $41.25
Saturday: Basketball /Book signing-Barnes and Noble/Ice Cream- Barts (the best!)/Family Party-brought a homemade cake: $49.00
Sunday: Took DH out to "date" breakfast:$26.00 made Sunday Supper(Costco-pork loin, potatoes, carrots): $35.00
Total: $151.25

Great idea OP! I want to keep better track of weekend spending, spending a little bit here and a little bit there, really adds up!

Not very budget friendly as I purchased tickets to see Luke Bryan, Little Big Town and Chris Stapleton at Gillette Stadium.....$150 but it will be a great concert i am sure!

Decent. I had an academic conference so bought my meals, which was a planned expense. The whole weekend cost me less than $100 and I stuck to $100 worth of groceries for the week.

Our oldest son is home from college for spring break. He was sweet enough to come spend it with his family rather than going off with friends because he took a summer job that won't allow him to visit us at all, so he knew he wouldn't see us until christmastime. So, so far we are way off budget for the weekend and the week. We all went out to lunch and we've gone out a few times since. I don't mind though, it's nice spending time with him. I miss my big kid.

Yes that is different! My dd is shooting for YMCA nationals ( in NC) times are tough though and it's her first year elligible so we will see. We do summer zones for long course but don't do a "zones" in the winter.

It was a spendy weekend at our house.

Ate out Friday night - $50
Saturday - Kohls - $30, Target $70, Paid my sister the $150 I owed her for tickets to see Garth Brooks next month that she put on her credit card, filled the van up with gas - $30 (at least this is a "cheap" expense these days), $30 Old Navy, $13 Disney Store. At least we went to dinner at my parents because we usually eat out on Saturday night too.
Sunday - Grocery - $150 (part of this was some gift cards too), DH wanted to get carryout for dinner, but I talked him in to eating up the leftovers in the fridge.
