There was an "emergency summit meeting" of Boston officials called to respond to the highest murder rate in Boston in ten years. How are they planning on combating crime that Mayor Menino said is caused by the large number of accessible in Boston? He plans on seizing the "Stop Snitching" shirts from retailers and issuing a gun buy back program.

There are no plans to hire more police officers because of financial concerns but yet they can buy back all of the guns that are reported to be swarming the city streets. And yet according to an article in the herald today, the construction issues with the big dig has required so many police details that Reps and residents believe it has affected the ability of the BPD to control/prevent crime

Any thoughts on whether the Mayor is on the right track or what should be done?
