How Big Is the surprise drop in the Dark On Splash Mountain?

Enough to make you think that it is coming and then send everyone in my party into a fit of giggles . I would guess maybe 3 boat lengths - Hope this helps

52 feet. Same as in the light :D

To answer OP's question (I think), there's no surprise. You see it coming well in advance. Oh, and even if you don't like drops, the ride is one of the very best at any theme park, and should be experienced at least once.

Mrbryan took my saying.:lmao: I just wasn't fast enough. But I'm with everyone else the ride has to be one of the best in all of the parks.:thumbsup2

Last July I rode it with my family for my first time (their second!) . I was really suprised at the drop in the dark. I didn't know about it or see it coming since it was dark, lol! It gave me MAJOR butterflies !! It was fun and yes I screamed at the big drop but it was over in 2 seconds! We also rode it at night which was really cool!! :),

The drop on the inside you really don't see at all. This is the one they are asking about.

I had no idea that little drop was there. I was already freaked out to ride Splash but DH talked me into it.

I screamed like a girl-well, I am a girl-but you get the idea. Everyone in the boat turned around and looked at me like I was crazy.

I made it through the ride but have not gone on it since. I'm sure the boys will drag me on it again soon but at least I know about that surprise drop now.

To us it's quite minor, fun at the time, but not significant enough to leave a strong memory.

Assuming you're talking about the 2nd drop;). It's only about 20 feet or so! It's not too bad.

it's two fairly small drops. not a big deal. i get that some people can't handle drops, but i promise it really isn't that bad. it's over before you can even say "splash mountain". i'm serious.

The 'surprise' drop is not bad, it's actually fun because it's so unexpected. :)

How wet do you get from the drop?

I'm going in Jan for the first time and I know it can get really chilly.

My observations tell me that it depends on where you are in the log and how it is loaded. If it is heavy up front the splash will be bigger because the nose digs deeper in the water.

What I have seen an experienced the first would be the most, 2nd row next, 3rd row after that and the last row...almost nothing. Even then it isn't a complete soaking experience. The front will hit you in the face and it is a significant amount of water but it doesn't really saturate, that I have seen.

I believe I read somewhere that if it is really cold out they don't run the attraction...but I have never witnessed that because I have never been there in really cold weather.
