How big is Epcot?

I'm trying to get a sense of how big Epcot is. For example, how long would it take to walk from Japan to Spaceship Earth? Are we better off doing WS one day and then Future World another day?

Thanks!

The last mile of the Disney marathon takes you from international gateway to up by the entrance.

So assume front of park to back of the park is roughly a mile.

It is the largest park and quite spread out.

HUGE

All of MK could fit in the lake at Epcot.
The lake alone us 1.2 miles around.

Per Google maps .7 miles from Japan to SE, but you can take a boat across the lake if you would prefer.

.7 miles. 14 minute walk...according to google maps. My own, "off the top of my head" estimate was going to be 15 minutes. So I think that range is probably correct.

It's big with a lot of walking but honestly very doable. There isn't enough in Future World to spend an entire day in. Not for us anyway.

Wow! That IS big!

I didn't know about the boats...where do they dock on each side?

If you walk directly and don't stop it's about 10 minutes from what I remember.

Depending on what you would like to see, 2 days may be better anyway with the new FP system. We typically spend 2 days at Epcot. We will FP Soarin and a few others one day and Fast Track the other. We do enjoy walking through the countries, seeing some of the activities there and going into some of the stores so it takes us a while to get through the entire WS. The alternative is to FP one and do the other at RD. Depending on the time of year you go and how many attractions you plan to do in Future World, Epcot could be done in one day if crowd levels 6 and under from our experience.

Near Mexico, Canada, Morroco and Germany.
4 docks total.

Wont save any time, but will save legs and feet :)

It's geographically big compared to the other parks. There is a lot to see, but there are not a lot of rides in terms of area. I think it's a good park to split up into two days, for the FP reasons mentioned above as well.

I typically do either 2, or 4 days at Epcot. Future World basically is two sides, one being The Seas, The Land, and Imagination, the other being The Universe of Energy, Test Track, and Mission Space.

We will do one side of Future World in the morning, and then spend our afternoon wandering World Showcase, then the following visit we do the other side of Future World in the morning, and again spend our afternoon in World Showcase. That system seems to work pretty well for us.

Animal Kingdom is the largest disney park. It's about 200 acres bigger than Epcot

And I personally wouldn't break up Epcot into two days if you don't need to. You can see and ride everything at Epcot in one day. Go at rope drop and ride soarin, then fp for test track. There's not enough rides for two days

Isn't most of that the land for animals. The waking distance for pedestrians isn't quite as large. (at least from what I have experienced, but I could be wrong--would not be a first.)

I always forget how incredibly hot Epcot is. There seems to be hardly any shade. I'm a fast walker, but I remember this past May thinking we were never going to get to the other side of the park lol

It obviously depends on what you do on the way, how direct of a path you take, etc. but 15 minutes should be sufficient.

The area inside the property boundary of AK is bigger. But as you point out, you cannot walk through the safari area or the animal housing/medical areas. You have to be in a vehicle to explore or get to those areas. So the "walkable" portion of Epcot is bigger than the "walkable" portion of AK.

It's big, but not in a bad way. The walk is great and there is so much to see and do you don;'t even notice how much you are walking. I can usually get the whole park done in one full day. If you want more of a chill day, then do The Land/Future in one day and the spend a day at WS.

OK--thanks. So while acreage wise, I was incorrect--in the context of walking distance, the walkable distance is larger.
Thank you!

I do forget about all those acres that surround and are part of AK.

Since we'll be coming from the West Coast, I was thinking of sleeping in our first day, then arriving at Epcot around 11:00 when the WS opens. Exploring the WS, having a late lunch in one of the countries. And maybe doing one or two FP+ attractions in Future World before heading back to our hotel in the late afternoon.

Then we would have a second Epcot day towards the end of our trip when we would RD the Future World attractions, have FP+ for late morning and visit WS in the early afternoon to see anything we missed on the first day.
