Hello all. First time poster so I hope I'm doing this right.

Have a bit of a transporation issue. I'm wanting to take 6 people to Disney World: myself, my boyfriend and his 2 teenage girls (18 and 15), and my teenager brother and preteen sister (14 and 12). Problem is we only have a 5 seater car and don't really know any one that has a van we could borrow.

So, would it be cheaper to rent a van for a week to drive all that way or fly? We're coming from the Toronto area. Also is there somplace we could just rent a van one-way, use local transportation for the week, then rent again to go back?

There's no real time-frame on going. We're still in the very early planning stages.

Thanks.

First of all, welcome to the DIS Boards.
You will find there is a wealth of information on these boards and will ,no doubt, have all of your questions answered.
It is a very expensive process to rent a van here and leave it down there (there are only a few companies that will do this).
Since flying out of Toronto can be quite expensive, you might want to consider flying out of Buffalo for fraction of the cost. Today for example,I saw a Southwest Airlines DING special (online airfares they offer from time to time) ,going from Buffalo to Orlando for $49 each way plus tax (during the month of June). You would then be able to rent a minivan from Orlando Airport (perhaps by using one of the various discount codes available).

What about Detroit instead of Buffalo. Same difference? I have relatives in Sarnia and Sterling Heights that I could stay at.

Indeed....there are many US airlines that fly out of Detroit to Orlando including Spirit,US Airlines,Northwest,Air Tran,Continental,United,America West,United.
I just punched in arandom date in the sidestep.com website and Spirit appears to be the best price.

10th june to 17th june.....Can$335 including tax.

You will find some specials from time to time from Detroit on Spirit and Air Tran...but for the most part,I think youll find Buffalo cheaper.
