How bad will it be?

I'll be going to DL over Labor Day weekend. Not really my choice of dates. I'm doing the DL 1/2 and the race is on Sunday. I'll be arriving on hursday around 11AM and leaving on a redeye Monday night. I'll be traveling with my 18 y/o nephew.

I've been to DL before (last time was 6 yrs ago), he has not. While we both like the parks and will go a few days, I want to take him to see some of the other sights. We won't have too much time and it is a holiday weekend, so I'm worried about the crowds.

I'm considering a few places and wanted opinions if it's doable or not.

1. Going to the beach - Venice or the Santa Monica Pier
2. Taking a Studio Tour (have read that Warner Bros. is best)
3. Somewhere to see the Hollywood Sign. He may also like to see stars, Grauman's etc. (I'll ask him on this one)
4. Beverly Hills - anything special to see here?
5. I think he might like going to see San Diego, but I think that'll be too far, plus I have to save some energy for the race.
6. Anything else near DL that may be of interest to see?

I would suggest doing your list after you arrive on Thursday afternoon.

1. It's right next to each other so you can walk from the Pier and down the beach.

2. I would do Warner also.

3. You will be able to see it driving between 1 and 2.

4. Not really. Rodeo Dr. You can buy a Map to the Stars and drive in front of some gates. The best thing is driving a few blocks on Beverly Dr, to see the palms lining the road like in the movies.

5. For a short visit I wouldn't go down to SD.

6. You might see if you can get tickets to a show taping. Leno, Price is Right.... Remember in 6 years DCA has changed a lot.
