How bad was Columbus Day weekend last year?

We went in Oct 2003 and it was busy, but manageable. In 2004, we went in Sept to be able to use our APs, so we missed the Oct crowds (but almost didn't miss the hurricanes!). DH took vacation time this in Oct instead of Sept to try to avoid the hurricanes. I didn't realize we would be leaving on the Fri of Columbus Day weekend, though. I'm sure it was busier last year due to people rescheduling from Sept. How was it, and do you think it will be as bad this year?

We were there Columbus weekend in 2004. I didn't notice any problems with crowds at all. It was a great trip...the only notice of a holiday weekend was that MNSSHP was sold out that Friday, but even with it being sold out it didn't seem crowded at all. Don't worry about it, Oct. is fabulous!

We arrived the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend 2004 & went to MK....BIG MISTAKE!!! The lines were HORRIBLE & it was just packed. Tomorrowland was almost impossible to walk through (early afternoon). We ended up eating an early counter service dinner & went back to our resort to get settled in.

Monday (Columbus Day) we went to AK & got rained out by late morning. But the crowds weren't bad!!! ha ha

I've never been in October before, but from what I've heard on this site & from the CM's during the trip....most people assumed the huge crowds were hurricane reschedulers.

We've been there around Columbus Day several years (but not last year) and I never thought the crowds were bad. We always try to stay away from MK on the weekends because it seems to be more crowded then, but that's true no matter when we go.
