How bad is the skillet @Whispering Canyon?

We love the Whispering Canyon...and the skillet has always been good. We've eaten there for lunch or dinner 6-7 times. The kids love the atmosphere.

We just ate there a few weeks ago and dh got the skillet for dinner. He didn't like it, and said the meats were very dry and bland. This is coming from someone who will eat almost anything. The entertainment was great which made up for it a little. We found this to be true for the food at most of the places we ate. It seems with free dining they are worrying about quantity over quality.

There was 4 of us for dinner, wife and I, daughter and son-in-law and their 18 month old daughter.....wife and daughter got the skillet.....myself and son-in-law...just the endless milkshakes (we've been here before) and I'm not one to pay that price for their skillet....and glad I didn't...it was awful looking and wife and daughter said, awful to eat.....waste of money.....but I was happy with my milkshake.....and as far as I'm concerned...the antics don't make the price any better.....I don't mind paying for food but want a better quality from it...

I feel lik the quality on the skillet goes down every year. Back in 07 it was awesome everyone wanted refiils. 08-09 not all that impressed not bad but not great. 2010 the food wasnt edible in my opinion lots of fatty meats and everything felt like it had been cooked earlier and just sat around. It may also be hit or miss since it still gets good reviews. I know its not on my list for this upcoming trip.

We love it. We went there twice in December. 09 had the skillet both times and it was great. Went twice last December had the skillet once and again it was great and a steak the second time and it was wonderful
I agree with the previous poster that the smores. Cheesecake is worth the trip alone.

Is it inedible bad, of just bland?

Comments, please!

I had it Fall 2009, all in all it was good.
As you read though the responses you'll find a mixed bag of answers, just like any other place to eat; you'll get better days based on what one is expecting. (and; of course; an occasional clunker) Don't go here expecting snails and cous-cous. :lmao:

My sister an I order the skillet every time we go (about once a year) and we've never had a bad experience.

We loved it. Absolutely no complaints about the skillet. It was great. Every part of it was great and NOT DRY at all. This must be one of those places that is hit or miss perhaps? Glad we hit it on a great day.

It was big fun in there--loud, funny, exciting.

It's basically the same thing as Big Thunder BBQ at Disneyland. Loved that, loved this.

We weren't fans of the skillet. Granted, we only had it once--but other than the gkids enjoying the corn--no one cared for the ribs (too fatty/greasy) and the chicken was dry.:confused3. Since we also found the antics annoying, I doubt we'll be giving it another go.
