How bad is the skillet @Whispering Canyon?

The skillet was good on two occasions when we ate at WC....and not great on one occasion.

It is "good" BBQ, at best, and for our family, the entertainment factor would be the reason for us to return. It is a lot of fun for the kids.

I always wanted to try this because it sounds fun. Is the food not so good?

We loved the skillet all 3 times we've been. This past Sept our waitress told us they were changing the menu, don't know if that included the skillet offerings tho. The 'smores cheesecake is worth the trip itself....:lovestruc

My wife and I had it last time when we went -- the meat was very dry and we didn't really enjoy it. I think if we had to do it again we would order something else off of the menu.

We are going back on this coming trip next week because we love the skillet. Very surprised to hear bad comments about it.

We loved the skillet. Kinda wish they made it to where you could split. It's a lot of food for someone who doesn't eat that much. But the brisket was really good.

BTW Shortypots, hello from Durham! :goodvibes

We've been 4 times and have gotten the skillet 4 times and devour it each and every time! We have never had a bad experience food wise or atmosphere wise at WCC. it's our family's favorite place.

We were just there the last week of Sept. and DH had the all you can eat dinner skillett. It was SOOOOO good. Especially the chicken and the mashed potatoes and beans!!

Dh ordered it and the meats were so greasy and fatty, the corn was the frozen variety and very mushy, the cole slaw was blah and the mashed potatoes very sticky...he didnt enjoy it that much and wouldnt go back

I had it for lunch (albeit within hours of finishing the marathon) and thought it was quite good. I dont remember eating corn haha. Mostly ribs and chicken which were quite good. The bottomless smoothie was very nice as well. Potatoes were pretty good too :).

Apparently dont ask for ketchup. They make a scene. Whoops.

We had it and enjoyed it. I didn't enjoy all the different meats but I loved the pulled pork. DH loved all the meats.

I really liked the dressing on the salad. Our server was just "meh."

My BF LOVES BBQ and got the skillet there two weeks ago. He said it was good. He wasn't jumping out of his seat over it but he finished the whole thing. He said there was no sauce on it but it seemed like a dry rub, so he never asked for sauce. It was odd, but I don't eat BBQ so what do I know! I had the pasta dish which I would not get again. I will say the corn bread was great! :thumbsup2

I LOVE the skillet, we have had it 4 times. One time the ribs were tough, but other than that it has always been soo yummy! My son and husband always want to eat here! We didn't have corn either, is that new on the menu? Love the pulled pork, chicken, salad and potaoes!!!:lovestruc Hungry just thinking about it!!

DH and I really liked it when we went two years ago - actually asked for seconds. :scared1: I loved the pulled pork, chicken and corn. DH loved the brisket.

How bad is the skillet @Whispering Canyon?

sounds like you've already made up your mind - I'd skip it if I had that mindset.

OTOH,
We've always enjoyed it...YMMV

I had the lunch skillet & loved it. I was really surprised. I expected it to be tough & tasteless but it was excellent. The only thing I didn't eat was the beans, I hate them all equally. (The corn was a little bland actually, but I loved the rest.)

I want to try it at dinner next time.

I found it tough and gristly and would never go back. My husband liked it but he can eat anything.

I like the skillet, especially the chicken. Between that, the cornbread and the salad, it is worth it to me!
