How bad is President's Week?

Just back and already planning when to go next! I am debating going President's week as DD's birthday is on 2/23. Is that week crazy all week? We are used to going in the summer and dealing with crowds ( although 7/4 crowds were unbearable by noon!) It would be nice to go when we would not have to worry about heat stroke everyday!

We went for Presidents weekend this year. I was concerned about crowds, as we had never been on a holiday weekend. It was crowded, but manageable with fast passes and ADR's for dining. The only day that was really a problem was our first day there. We went to MK and there were horrible backups to get in and really slow moving crowds everywhere. It turned out that the President was arriving that afternoon for a function at the Contemporary. So we left MK and went to Epcot and had a great time. The rest of the weekend was fine and the weather was magnificent. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I'd just check the President's schedule in advance and then go wherever he's not going to be :rotfl:

This coming pres. day also falls the same week as Mardi Gras. Lots of people from New Orleans and the surrounding area go at that time too. We go every Mardi Gras but I don't think we'll go this time since it's also Pres. week. Big crowds!

Look at my signature for our travel history. I did not include weekend or a few early off site trips. I had never seen such crowds as we saw Prez week. We may go back on a prez week as the cool temps allowed more /faster moving than our usual summer heat. I have never gone Spring Break week or Christmas so I can't compare those to Prez.

We were in Fant. Land walking between the Merry-go -round and where Mickey's Phil...was going in and the crowd came to a stand still of solid people with no movement. It was very funny really. I have been a crowded times but that was crazy.

:cool1: Hi bairdbeth !!!!! My birthday is also 2/23 and I've been trying to decide if President's week would be a good time to go also !!! Whatever you
decide, have a great trip and tell your DD to have a fantastic birthday !!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

We usually go President's Week because it coincides with a school vacation. As others have stated, it is crowded (but nothing compared with the crowds Christmas week). You can manage just fine by getting to the parks early and making use of FastPass. We really enjoy this time of year for the great weather - it is cool in the mornings and evenings (need a jacket or sweatshirt) and warmer during the day. It's important to layer your clothes at this time of year.

We went President's week this year. Being Canadian, we didn't even realize that it was a holiday until right before we left. It was very busy. Most of the big rides were 60+ minute line ups and it wasn't uncommon to see a 120 minute stanby line but it was manageable with Fast Passes. It probably wouldn't be my first choice for travelling again but I'm probably spoiled from travelling in low season.

Also, book early. We stayed off-site but my parents thought they might stay a couple of nights on Disney property. All the hotels were full, they literally couldn't get a disney hotel room anywhere. That's when we realized it wasn't just an ordinary week!

Thanks for the replys! Do the crowds taper off any by thursday or Friday or are there big crowds all week?

The one time we went around Pres. Week it was also around the same time as the Daytona 500. So now you may have Mardi Gras, Nascar, school break and the normal crowds to deal with. Id be picking another time! Theres nothing worse than standing in line for most of your vacation and fighting crowds!
