How bad is MNSSHP on a Fri night?

I'd hoped to go on a Sun night but there is no Oct 1 date so I'm considering Sept 29th. I'm a little concerned about crowds since we are use to value season crowds.

I think out of all the days a fri would be the busiest.. people come for the weekend or maybe locals will attend. They do however only seel a certain amount of tickets so it should be manageable.

We went on Friday, Oor 5:30 at the Liberty Tree Tavern and really had the run of the park afterwards - hit a lot of the candy sites several times. It was crowded by the time of the first parade, but not unbearably so. Go, you'll have a great time!

That is when we will go because we leave on the 1st.

Last year, the Friday, Sept 30, party was not that crowded at all.

Yes, Fridays are usually more crowded then the weekday parties but because it was the first and the beginning of the parties...it wasn't crowded at all.

As it get closer to Halloween, the parties on Fridays will get more crowded.

We were there the Friday Before Halloween last year, it was sold out and it still wasn't that crowded. We too are used to value season crowds, but really, other than fantasyland, the lines weren't bad at all and we went there first, got it done and moved on before it got crowded. We had dinner at 4:45 at the castle, got out in time to get herded over to the waiting area, rode some rides, saw the first parade, fireworks, hit all the trick or treat areas, saw everything we wanted to see and left exhausted at 11:30. Seriously, we did everything we wanted to with no problems at all!

Thanks for the info. I'm tempted to make a dining reservation but also tempted to use that time for some rides (it will be the only MK trip for a year or more). When you went to dinner, were the lines long enough that you might as well be eating since it will clear out some later when the regular guests leave? How were the lines for the rides in the herded area? We're the counter service lines pretty bad such that I'd want to make a PS?

I'm also debating on going on the 29th or on Oct 2nd. The 29th would fit my park schedule much better.

Was there free dining going on also for the first MNSSHP of 2005? Do you think this may change the crowds a bit? I chose these vacation dates so that I could get both free dining AND MNSSHP. I imagine I am not the only one.

Whadda ya think?

Yes, free dining was going on for the first 3 parties. It did not affect MNSSHP crowds.

Perhaps my experience was unique, but we've gone three different years and the Friday/Saturday parties are MUCH more crowded than the rest of the week. If you have the choice between Friday and Sunday, definitely go Sunday.

We went the Friday before Halloween last year and it wasn't bad. We were able to go to every treat station, ride every ride that was open, watch the parade, get our picture taken, and watch the fireworks. What more is there to do? It definitely helps that they limit tickets. I'd go on a Friday again.
