Just curious, spurred by the rising cost of points and the constant premium for BCV -

Would you trade your current resort and pay an extra $1500 for BCV (150 points x approximate $10 point premium on TTS)??

While I truly believe that BCV is a wonderful resort - and we'll experience it for the first time in 2 weeks - what it has to offer just doesn't match what we value in a resort. SSR does - go figure ;) - that's why we bought there and that's why we own there.

Well, we also bought into SSR because it really reminds us of the All Star Resorts! ;) :lmao: :rotfl2:

I wouldn't but if you would, go for it. As long as I can get into it for a bit during the Flower & Garden show, weekend or weekdays, I figure I'll keep my points at BWV for the standard view for those other times when I want to be in the BW area.

We have a June 5-night WDW and then the beach vacation coming up, and since it's the last weekend of F&G we are staying at BCV in a studio for Saturday before moving to an OKW 1 bedroom on Sunday.

Bobbi :goodvibes

Dont see any reason to vote yes since anyone could do this today anyway. Sell your current resort and buy a BCV resale-probably cost about $10 (give or take) a point to accomplish on average.

Pay $1500 to get a canal & street view for the same points I can get a Boardwalk view room at the BWV--- ??? :confused3 :confused3

We "followed the mantra" and bought where we wanted to stay the most. As it turns out, that's not BCV for us. So no, we wouldn't want to switch home resorts since we did the due diligence up front and are very happy with our home resorts. :thumbsup2

We just bought BCV and it was truly a last minute thought as we were both leaning toward OKW. However, we decided to have BCV as our home resort because we are used to staying at S/D and being in the middle of the action at Epcot etc. Knowing we could book that 11 months out and still have a chance to stay at other resorts was the deciding factor.
I can't wait to go to OKW. I think that resort is more my style but I must say, I really believe any DVC is gonna be just fine with me. After all, I can be quite happy at a value resort! LOL
In thinking about your question, though, I wouldn't have gone out of my way to own at BCV.

I think it depends on how content you are with what you have, and what BCV has to offer.

We like the Epcot area, so are happy with our BWV - and SAB, while cool, isn't $1500 cool. So BCV doesn't have $1500 of additional functionality to us. But I can understand if you really did like the BW area and really liked SAB, and really liked the feel of the Beach Club - AND were discontent with your current home or buying in for the first time, or adding points - that paying a premium for BCV might be attractive.

We own SSR. Though, after the last few trips we now know we prefer the hotel-like DVCs. With that being said, I still wouldn't accept the scenario you stated as I'd rather take my chances with the 7-month out reservations and waitlist.

It's interesting to note that 20% responded that they would pay extra to get into BCV, but there are only comments from people who wouldn't.

It's also interesting (to me anyway) that people seemed to assume I was trying to decide whether to pay extra to get into BCV, whereas I already have BCV and am debating the value. We watched points cost rise dramatically since we bought (hooray) and wonder if it's worth "cashing in" and going to the dark side (BWV).

How is that an assumption based on what you wrote?

I own at SSR, BCV, OKW and BWV. Would I trade any of those and pay an extra $1500 for BCV?

NO!

For our family - no. We have stayed at all the on-site dvc resorts and still prefer our home resort , OKW. As a matter of fact when I booked our upcoming trip ( 2 weeks more ! ) there was availability at Beach Club and both my wife and daughter wanted OKW.

We did enjoy our stay at BVC more than our stay at BWV, and BC would be our dvc resort of choice for those times we choose to stay in the Epcot area. We simply prefer our home resort for it's more "laid-back" style - it's a fantastic place to decompress after all the "fun" at work !

We own BC bought there over BW but we still would not pay the extra 1500 unless it was a one time thing

We really like BCV, it is our 2nd favorite DVC resort, but there is no way we would pay extra for points there. We like BCV, but we love BWV. That is why we have all our points there.
We had the chance to buy BCV pts when it first opened and were tempted just for SAB. But after weighing it all out we passed on BCV pts and instead added more BWV pts. We have never regretted that decision.

Let's see:

Buying 200 HHI points vs. 200 BCV points: $4,000
Maintenance fee difference on thse 200 points: $28
Being able to book BCV twice with your HHI points: Priceless!

Yeah I guess I am another All Star person :cheer2: because I love SSR and would not give up those points for BCV.

We are waitlisting for 50 BCV so that we can book an every other year summer visit but I love SSR. I do have 50 VWL points I would trade for AKL or CR if they come through but not for BCV!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
Although we recently stayed at the BWV this past Feb and
took a surrey bike ride around through BCV and even though
I couldn't help at staring at that resort...I honestly have to
say...NO!
I wouldn't trade up SSR for BCV!
SSR is going to come into it's own in a few short years and
become a beautiful resort...at the same time the fact that
any of us own any DVC is a blessing! We may differ in
our likes and dislikes of the DVCs but...in the end we ALL
enjoy WDW tremendously enough to buy into it!
Owning a piece of the Mouse...can't touch it!

I'd pay the extra to stay at BCV. I own at BCV and SSR. I've stayed at all the villas except OKW where I'll spend a few days to experience it. I like all the resorts for different reasons but I keep coming back to BCV. I find it's location to be the best. I love the 5 min walk to EPCOT. I also find it to be a sanctuary and a quiet place to go when I need to get away from it all yet close to everything. I love Stormalong Bay for those "pool" days and I enjoy hanging out on the beach and watching the boats come and go. Views are important to me so its always a risk that it could be less than perfect but we have done ok so far. In April we stayed at VWL and managed to snag the 4th floor studio that overlooks the dumpster/laundry area. It's a long long walk to get that lovely view too. Overall, in my opinion, BCV is well worth the premium.

I totally agree with this. BVC is a beautiful resort but I can never understand why it seems to get such better press on these boards than BWI.

While we don't own either, we have stayed at both and would much prefer the guarantee of a GREAT view that BWI offers for the same points.

Far too many of the room locations at BCV are a little too close to the "real world" IMO. We like to feel as though we've left reality when we visit WDW and cars and delivery trucks whizzing by our balcony doesn't really fit the bill at least for us.
