the Wilderness Lodge Standard view rooms? Do they have balconies? Will the view be so bad that we won't care to sit outside for morning coffee? I've never seen the lodge in person so I really don't know what to expect. Thoughts from anyone who has stayed in a standard room?

Our first trip to the world was to WL and we had a "Woods" view room because the standard rooms were sold out, but it was only a bit more per night. Our view overlooked the Villas and some trees, but I think the whole place is so great the room view did not matter to us. The amazing lobby and looking back at the hotel at night from the pool or on a boat back from Magic Kingdom is fabulous. To us the balcony was not important, but if you like to utilize the balcony it may be an inexpensive upgrade to get a woods view.

If you can upgrade to a woods view, I would do it. I have heard that "some" of the standard views look over the parking lot. I will tell you that if the lodge is not full, they WILL upgrade you. So don't sweat it if you cannot pay for a woods upgrade, cuz you very well MAY get a complimentary upgrade! Of course, if you pay for a woods upgrade, you may get a comp upgrade to a CY view which is great!

All WL rooms have balconies (patio's on 2nd floor). I believe the standard rooms are the one closest to the lobby. Think of WL as a U, the standard rooms would be the "_" bottom of the U. (I believe.)

We got a complimentary upgrade to woods view (We could watch Wishes from our room! :wizard: ) But if we looked down it was where the trucks unloaded. It all depends how much time you think you'll spend on your balcony or looking outside.
If/When we go back we'll still reserve a standard room

We had a standard view at the WL in June 2004 and ended up looking over a service area, ugh (worst view we've every had at a Disney resort) But we still sat out on the balcony and had a great trip! :rotfl:

There are also a few that have a view of a roof about 6 feet or so from the balcony. The roof goes abot 5 or 6 feet above the heigth of the balcony. Beyond the roof you can see sky, some parts of the lodge and villas and the parking area.

We had a woods view room that had a great view of the bus stops and you coul hear the elevator all night. We still loved the lodge. This was last April the week before Easter so there were no other rooms available. We paid for the woods view room. We still enjoyed the balcony each night after DD went to bed.
