DH goes to China often on business, so I thought we'd look into eating at Nine Dragons on our next trip to WDW. He seems to like Chinese food, that is the Chinese food in China. How authentic is the food at Nine Dragons resturaunt? Unfortunately, many places in the US that advertise "Chinese food" aren't too real.

as some one who lived in Japan for several years.. it's Americanized just like any other stateside restaurant. maybe a step up.

Honestly, it was ok. just ok. We have a decent (not great) Chinese food place here in town and this was about what I'd expect to get from there.

Our waiter was really nice. he was from China and he spent some time talking with us about his country and was very patient with all our questions. He even gave us a bunch of the paper placemats for the kids to take back to school.

It is likely the servers will be authentic Chinese. The food, however, is reportedly the usual Americanized version.

When we ate here on our last trip we were very disappointed. Not much more than what you can get at a local restaurant near home. Very limited menu as well.

We ate there last year. I took the family and was expecting a much better value for the meal. The food was average. Tables were crowded. The views were limited. And the prices were very high. Not a good value. Somehow I expect Disney restaurants to have much better quality food, but I haven't seen it yet. You'll find much better meals eating out with the family at home.
We always brings sandwiches and snacks into the park with us -- tastes much better, healthier and the cost is affordable.

Our Ratings of Nine Dragons:
. . . food price value: B
. . . food quality: C
. . . food quantity per serving: B
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: B-
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: C
. . . eatery atmosphere: C
. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff helpfulness: B
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: We eat Chinese frequently, and were pleased
by Nine Dragons. Although not the best, we thought it was
quite good for Epcot's typically Americanized meals. The
Beijing Chicken was surprising good. I can't count Nine
Dragons as fine dining, but certainly well above average.

Not sure about the authenticity but despite the limited selections, the food isnt bad.

like a PF Chang's, but with a few authentic items. I have a Korean friend that eats things similar to the Xi Xiang noodles served there.

I don't know that any of the restaurants are authentic, they have been altered for the American taste. If you've ever eaten in the Country you realize Disney offers the most popular food of that country but it's not authentic in taste. Some of the restaurants do a very good job, other do not.

Not having eaten at Nine Dragons, I can't really say whether they are authentic or not, (and I'm no Chinese food expert, just someone who used to enjoy eating in Chinatown when I lived in NYC), but I perused the menu recently trying to decide whether to eat here or not and I remember seeing a General Tso's chicken appetizer, so I'm guessing the menu has been adapted for American tastes. Also, no dim sum at brunch/lunch time and no duck on the menu.

Nine Dragons is very authentic -- assuming we're comparing it to the Chinese joint on every street corner of your nearest city. Nine Dragons may be my least favorite restaurant on Disney property. I can't think of a single type of person to whom I would recommend it. It serves extremely mediocre Chinese for exorbitant prices, even by Disney standards. I literally can walk outside, stand in line for 10 minutes and bring home exponentially better Chinese for a fraction of the cost. I suspect you could do the same.

I should mention that I love Americanized Chinese food. I have spent many a weekend night in our favorite dive, indulging in hot and sour soup, vegetable lo mein and General Tso's chicken. Heck, as a Jew, I'm morally obligated to pig out on Chinese every Christmas. But part of what makes that stuff so good is the price. Nine Dragons serves the same junk at gourmet prices.

I found the service here very good.... The food nothing special, However I guess this depends on where you are from--- here in NY I can get someting (most items) just as good and a larger amount for 6.25 with tax.. to be fare I can also get something a lot worse for 7.50 at some places.. These are take out if I dine in you will need to add about 1.00-2.00..
It is good American Chinese food at best I would say it is a poor value Yak and Yeti is far better...but also an Asian fusion--closer to American Chinese
