How are the Standard Rooms at WL?

I'm not too concerned about the view but I am concerned about the noise from the lobby and WCC. Would it be safer to get a woods view?

There are only 9 standard view rooms located off the Lobby above the check-in on the 4th floor. Some guest have complaned about the noise from WCC, I haven't been bothered by noise when staying in a Lobby room once my door was closed. But my room wasn't a standard view room.

Most standard view rooms are located in the North Wing on the 4th, 5th and 6th floors overlooking the smokehouse and delivery area, guest have also complained of noise from trucks making deliveries. I have stayed in these rooms on the 5th and 6th floors and wasn't bothered by any noise. As a plus these rooms face the Magic Kingdom and some rooms have a possible view of the castle and the fireworks at night.

I've stayed in the North Wing on the 5th floor which overlooked delivery area, and only once did we hear trucks outside (the load backup warning beep) in the morning, but it wasn't that bad. The room did offer a good view of the MK fireworks and we could also see the Electric Water Pageant in the evenings as well.

We just returned from a standard view room at WL in Jan. It was a very quiet room, no noice from WCC, but at 7 am sharp every morning we always heard a truck backing up in the loading area. Granted we were either up by then or planning to get up soon. We were on the 4th floor and didn't have a great view, as we expected. But we did have a fair view of the fireworks. It was slightly obstucted, but to see the fireworks from our room, then put our son right to bed, was nice.

There seldom is any noise and you get the bonus of opening your room door and stepping out to a view of the beautiful lobby

On one trip to WL, I paid for a standard room, and instead of overlooking the delivery area like others said, I was ground floor directly next to it. Ugh. Terrible room, as I was too low to even see the fireworks that everyone else raves about. The room was quiet, but when on my patio, I hear lots of trucks and workmen who are literally feet away. Not exactly what I had in mind on my vacation.

I stayed at WL again last month, and coughed up the money for a courtyard view just so I could get away from that delivery area! For such a lovely resort, some standard rooms at WL aren't that great.

Stayed in a corner room overlooking the front of the villas. There was minimal noise from outside but a fair amount of noise came in from the front door. Not a lot of sound proofing going on there. Luckily, kids running down the hall didn't last very long and didn't start too early. Even with that, would love to stay there again.

Hmmm...this is what I am afraid of. Unfortunately, the courtyard view is really not in our budget

I know this won't make you feel any better but ground floor rooms are either Woods View or Courtyard View rooms. Sounds like the room you were unhappy with was a free upgrade to a Woods View room. SORRY

The problem is I don't have much faith in room requests. This is quite a tough decision.

we had 4th floor, room 4006, end of the hall. woodsview. we could see fireworks everynite, they were a couple trees see through at side, but still could not complain, we had perfect view of water pagent, every nite also. heard it very clear, loved it. we also went down to beach to see also though. we had bunk bed room . i do not if all are located in same area. our end of hall had 4 flights of stairs to outside. straight to pool area. loved it, i am a smoker, so i was able to go to bar area to have a smoke. going back up the same way UP UP 4 flights, but it was good exercise, did not mind at all. i am not sure where the standard rooms are located. but i am glad we up where we were, no noise, we heard others in their rooms as we were walking down hall, but i am sure they heard us also.

I guess it was an upgrade to woods view. Honestly, I should have refused the "upgrade" and begged for the standard I paid for! Looking straight ahead, it did look right at the otter pond. But how could a standard room be any worse than being directly next to the loading dock! But what an awful room - felt so uncomfortable on my patio next to that loading dock. I really wanted a balcony, but the CM at check-in refused, saying they were "all full". (The real reason I was refused was that I was traveling solo, and they needed me to fill an unused king bed handicapped room - they needed to save the double bed rooms for larger families).

And I agree with MomtoBrandon&Jacob on room requests. I stayed at WL 3 weeks ago, and paid for a courtyard view this time, and requested a balcony. Think I got a balcony? Nope - once again, a ground floor room next to an entrance (so much for privacy!), and probably a king bed handicapped room again. But this time I insisted and politely argued (I was prepared to do so), and voila! I got a 3rd floor balcony room overlooking the stream and inner courtyard.

So at least my second stay had a better room. But not everyone gets requests, and someone has to be over or next to the loading dock.

You know I have stayed at the Lodge so many times I just book the lest expensive room I can, unless I book Club Level then I request North Wing which the rooms on the 7th floor would be standard view room one floor down.

I always try for the Standard View rooms, yet I have only recieved a standard view room once, maybe twice. There are so many great locations at the Lodge to enjoy the resort and people watch I don't worry about the view.
